Chargers | More on Tomlinson's post-game reaction Mon, 15 Jan 2007 06:25:52 -0800 Updating a previous report, Bernie Wilson, of the Associated Press, reports San Diego Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson was enraged by one unidentified New England Patriots player who mocked the celebration dance of Tomlinson's teammate, LB Shawne Merriman, at midfield immediately after the game. "I would never react in that way. I was very upset," said Tomlinson, who was restrained by a teammate after yelling and pointing at the Patriots player. "When you go to the middle of our field and start doing the dance Shawne Merriman is known for, that is disrespectful. They showed no class and maybe that comes from the head coach." Chargers | Tomlinson enraged by Patriots' celebration Mon, 15 Jan 2007 06:15:31 -0800 Lee Jenkins, of the New York Times, reports San Diego Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson was seen rushing off the field, refusing to shake hands with the New England Patriots' players at the conclusion of the Divisional Playoff game Sunday, Jan. 14, after observing the Patriots dancing and gloating at midfield. "I can't sit there and watch that," Tomlinson said. "I was very upset. They showed no class at all, absolutely no class, and maybe it comes from their head coach." Belichek is a dirtbag and it rubs off on all his players, i hope the colts rip them a new one.
if you really hate the Pats do what i do. I place a bet on them to win everytime they are the underdog so you are compensated for them winning. Its a no lose situation
Tomlinson has class, Belichek doesn't. Doesn't that mean that whenever a team loses, which happens half of the time, it deserves to be disrespected?
No, but winning will always prevent you from being Dissed. And add to it the fact that Merriman is a known steriod user. I see no reason to criticize the Patsies (on this issue)
I have come to accept the fact that the Pats are a dynasty in a crappy league. I view them as a crappy dynasty.
Not from the AFC at least. I can't hate them when they have 3 and possibly 4 VLTs in their cabinet. I want us to be like them or better. They (I'm sorry to say) are a class outfit and keep reinventing themselves so the rest of the league is playing catch-up.
who cares? seriously....after all the mickey mouse bullshit the chargers were pulling (like the headbutt) who cares if they celebrated on their field. they deserve it.
Then why does Belly wear his raggedy hooded sweatshirts on the sidelines instead of his SB rings? Must be because he has no class. LT has a record which he earned on the field which belly will never own. Belly could have easily not gotten those rings had it not been for the tuck rule call and he could have very easily not won the SB against Carolina. How many favorable calls has he gotten from the zebras tha helped him win those SB?
If the Chargers didn't want to be disrespected, they should have not talked smack, implanting phrases in their hair and in the media, that ended up being material for the Pats winning and subsequent celebrations.
The Patriots didn't exactly go out and beat the Chargers. The Chargers beat themselves. Recovering a fumble on a punt when the punt returner should have fallen on it and throwing an interception on fourth down and then stripping the ball from the defender is not exactly what the Patriots had planned. The stats will tell you that the Patriots were dominated and did not do anything with the materials provided by the Chargers.
Well, patriots players have already admitted to using the Chargers' smack talk to their advantage. Weather that is the difference in the outcome of the game remains to be seen. The Chargers have no business complaining about the Patriots; when it all boils down to the Chargers starting it and really inventing it.
You really need to cool it on the whole mind games and smack talk aspects of the Chargers/Pats game. The Patriots won becuase they made plays happen on the field and put up more points. They didn't win because their players had some clever thing to say or because Bill messed with the pre-game introductions.
I'm not making it up. Geez. It has been shown on PTI and SportsDesk all day. The Patriots, in lock room press conferences, have said that they were paying attention to the Chargers smack talk. "I think with a team like that, you just can't make too many mistakes, because as soon as you do, they take advantage of it," Merriman said. "They definitely use it against you. And they did quite a few times (Sunday)." "Sometimes, doing the right thing and keeping your mouth shut makes it look like you're getting punked," a calmer Colvin said in the locker room. "But we don't have any punks in this locker room." -Rocky Mountain News They use the smack talk to their advantage. Just like they did with Freddy Mitchell in 04. Again, I never said it caused them to win, I said they used it to their advantage. You can use it to your advantage without it being responsible for the win.
I don't get it. How exactly did the Patriots use the Chargers smack talk to their advantage? And, by advantage, I mean how did it give them an edge in the game?
