I still don’t get this narrative that Belichick rode Brady all the way to the promise land for 20 years.

I guess everyone forgets that he neutralized Peyton Manning in almost every game they played for nearly a decade straight, playoffs and regular season. They changed the rules because of it.

They neutralized the best offense in the league twice in the SB in both Rams squads including a unique gameplan in 2018 to play six man defensive lines. They won 13 to friggain 3.

It was so much more of a mutualistic relationship than people ever give it credit for.

What’s his playoff record with quarterbacks not named Tom Brady? How many times has he even MADE the playoffs with quarterbacks not named Tom Brady?

They were 36-31 coming into this season without Brady since Brady came into that ball game in 2001. Two winning seasons, two losing (7-9, 8-9).

Holding his feet to the fire for his Cleveland record is just silly. If it was ten years ago, I’d be in but it was literally a different game in 1995.

Doesn’t matter, it’s still his record. The Patriots didn’t have Brady in 5 seasons (2008 Matt Casell) and they’ve been in the playoffs once, and they got the shit kicked out of them in that one. He’s a mediocre coach who lucked into the league’s best quarterback in the sixth round

What you describe is a fantastic DC...which no one would ever dispute. As a HC, if he didn't have TB, he wouldn't have lasted 5 years in New England. Bledsoe was not all that far from retirement and that would have nailed that shut.

Oh, let's also not forget he had Curtis Martin at the start of his stint in N.E. as well.

Martin joined the Jets in 98, Belichick was still the DC for us that year. His first year in New England was 2000, Martin was in his 3rd year for us that year

Why is this franchise so enamored with retreads? Hard Pass

I’d rather Zach coach the team.

I still hate the Raiders from the shit they pulled in the Sixties. I still hate the Cowboys for popularizing coaches calling plays for QBs. I still hate the Dolphins for wetting down their field before the Jets played them. And after almost 70 years, I'm desperate for them to become a winning franchise.

There is no way in this lifetime I would ever forgive what Belichick has done to the Jets.

Once a Cheat always a Cheat. He started his cheating scumbag legacy by first stealing a million dollars from a dying old man.

The degenerate got an multi-year extension from the Cheats, coincidentally so did Goodell. There must he some vague cheating dots to connect, who is to say. If Belicheat requests a "trade" (translation: fired), not sure exactly how that happens unlesss he's not as contractually locked in as one would think.

Ha, I'm starting to sound like Norm McDonald and his relentless digs at O.J. Simpson. RIP Norm. Fck O.J. and fck Belicheck. They should only play golf together and trade lying ass narcissist stories. 'If I Did It', 'If I Cheated', yeah, haha, "if", whatever.

Aaron Rodgers will pick the coach and he’s not gonna want to play for a hard ass like Belichick

I would expect Aaron Rodgers to retire before putting up with a regime change. And that would cripple the team financially, which means zero legit candidates.

Nobody is getting fired this year.

Definitely mutual to a degree. Brady is the best QB of all-time, no question. Belichick is one of the greatest coaches of all-time. We saw what Brady did in one year away from New England. We've seen what Belichick has done since Brady left town in 3 or 4 seasons. That was the final answer to this debate.

Usually you don't get this in pro sports so I was glad to see this settled on the field of play the way it should always be. Brady answered that question in his first season in Tampa which was ridiculous and almost made another run the next year but came up just short. He's the rarest of rare like Michael Jordan, as much as it pains me to say. Gotta give the GOAT his due.

it's recency bias. people forget that brady wasn't very good in those 1st 3 superbowls and playoff runs. but with brady winning one in tampa and the pats sucking now people use that to make their point.
I agree with you in that it was both of them that made that dynasty together. brady QBing a superteam for 1 year for a SB doesn't change that and bellichick losing shows that no matter how good a coach is, you need a QB and some talent to win.

Am I really that old that I'm losing my timing. Wow...thanks for the clarity and reminder!

Still doesn't diminish the fact that BB would have been back to being a DC, quite quickly, had TB not come on the scene.

If it all boiled down to Tammy, how come he handily beats us with literally any QB he puts out there?
Tammy benefited greatly from the coaching, the adjustments, and always top quality D and specials (as well as systematic cheating and the refs, but I digress).

That said he ain’t coming here, nor could he do much more with Zach Wilson than he’s doing with Mac Jones. Neither QB has any business playing.
I agree about NE’s drafting tho it’s been suspect.

The past 3 games he’s beaten us by a combined total of 17 points. Before that, you didn’t exactly have to be an all-pro to put up numbers on our defenses
