HC said other personal cahnges are coming... lets see. Now cach, light a fire under your QB and OC and maybe just maybe you'll win a game.

I thought it could have been connected but then players tweeted how it stung to see him cut. so it's an odd coincidence. had something happened in the locker room that led to MC being "outed" i'd get it but then players wouldn't be saying it hurts seeing him cut.

They released him because Izzy is taking more snaps on 1st/2nd down and Breece is being moved into exclusive 3rd role alongside his early down reps. So MC was being benched and he doesn't play special teams. It makes sense. but again, JD should have traded him in preseason.

If Izzy looks the part like he did in preseason – this might be great addition by subtraction. I think Izzy has homerun ability like Breece and also is very big, tough RB. We need to run the ball ALL DAY. Zach can't win games with his arm.

Great take. That's exactly how it feels. More lip service.

kind of sad with this news. Two years back I really liked Carter. Seemed he was going places. Breece Came in and knocked him back. then Cook as well. shame. I hope he gets picked up and gets a chance elsewhere.

Once the players only meetings start the season is over.

Spot on with this take. Hall grades out to be one of the better 3rd down backs in the league and on critical situations it was asinine to take him off the field. Izzy will probably work in with Cook on a few more early downs.

I agree with your post about how there are way more issues than Carter, but not making a change would just continue as part of the problem so I'm willing to give them some praise (yes, they could have just shipped him off for a 6th or 7th, not sure why they didn't?). They are taking a step in the right direction. Let's see what the CS does with Ruckert v Uzomah this week and let's see if Brownlee / Taylor cut in Lazards reps.

Unfortunately the ship has sailed on the OC + QB change and we just have to accept that nothing will be done with those two spots.

The last time Saleh talked highly about Ruckert getting more involved he went on to play 3 snaps the following week. If that shit happens again I'll be livid, but right now everyone with a set of eyes knows Uzomah and Lazard have been big problems and hurting the offense. They showed their hand the other day that they were willing to make changes on the offensive side of the ball and to move on from Carter in favor of Izzy and Breece on 3rd down. I'm willing to give them 3 more days about Uzomah and Lazard.

at the time they weren't planning on playing izzy. then they decided to play izzy which meant MC had no role. so the option was let him rot on the bench and trade in the offseason or just release him and give him a chance to get snaps elsewhere. MC was well liked, we get to save .5mil this year and 1 mil next year (since he got picked up on waivers the cards take over his contract and our only cost on him is 82k in dead money next year) so it's a win/win for everyone.

May be. I have not read anything except for one poster that speculates that. We shall see Sunday against a pissed off and motivated Buffalo team. Seems a bit odd to me. Once Hall is on the field on third down the defense massively stacks the box and we get zero penetration in short yardage. Are they removing one of our “non blocking without penalties TEs” and adding a full back or two RBs? Cook is not a bad blocker?

Good post The bold in particular is a strong indicator to me that Saleh has little to no input or overriding interest on the offensive play calling. I have been screaming for a reduced or no role role for Lazard and Saleh keeps saying that Lazard will turn it around, when is the question. He runs lazy routes and quits on them. He is big but does not have power to hold on to contested catches, and he gets no separation. Hope our brilliant OC realizes with Brownlee and Taylor we need to change our tactic and open up the short routes that can give us YAC with speed for once.

I mean Carter shouldn't have even made the 53 if we are being honest. It was insane to keep Hall, Cook, Izzy, Carter, and Bawden. 5 RBs? Really?

They did right by the player, release him and let him go get playing time elsewhere. It was weird seeing some media outlets talk about how they did Carter dirty. Thought it was far from that honestly.

yeah 5 RBs does seem like a lot. IDK why we keep bawden TBH. MC did deserve a spot though. We don't know how izzy was doing with the playbook and they pencelied him as the 3rd down back. He looked the part as a rookie but had a sophmore slump. was hoping he'd bounce back and the CS probably thought the same but clearly he didn't. hall and cook were coming off injuries so at that point it made sense to keep carter. with hall healthy though and izzy seemingly ready to go, MC became expendable.
