Semien was also unemployed and was kicked off practice squad. And Wentz wasn't unemployed for too long as it turned out. You think if we have a poll who is better, Wentz or Semien, who wins? It sure looks to me like JD fucked up again by not being aggressive, but maybe we will never know.
You can’t say JD fucked up if the result of JD’s actions are exactly what he wanted. JD wasn’t aggressive getting Wentz because he didn’t want Wentz. Hell he wouldn’t have needed to be aggressive at all, Wentz apparently called us. No, Wentz represented far too much competition for Zach. Wentz is better at football in every measurable category than Zach. That’s why JD didn’t sign him. They don’t want competition for Zach, they are using this season as a mulligan to give Zach reps. When Rodgers went down the FO bailed on the goal of winning and instead decided they would use this year to develop Zach.
no i'm saying the jets FO has a different view on things then the rams front office. We are modeled after the steelers/ravens/eagles type way of doing things. mcvay/snead is kinda in their own way of doing things. wentz is clearly a better player. nobody is denying that. but wentz again has been kicked off 3 teams in 3 straight years as a decently talented QB under 30. thats pretty much unheard of. Antonio brown was the best WR in the NFL for a 5 year period and kept getting kicked off teams too. sometimes the headache isn't worth the talent.
First of all, you’re delusional. Pickett is playing much better than Zach. Trubisky is much better than Zach. Much better. And yea, they both suck. A “different view” is just another way of saying they’re fucking stupid. They tanked this season when they fell back to developing Zach over winning football games. Honestly, how do you look around realizing everyone disagrees vehemently with you and not once stop to think maybe you’re wrong? Are you that arrogant? Stats prove you wrong, you go and say stats don’t matter. His awful decision making is proven time and again on tape and you have an excuse for all of it. Zach is awful. I watch the steelers more then any non jet team. this is not delusional. you just haven't seen the shit show that is pickett. the stat difference between pickett and zach is pickens. pickett has a legit WR2 who has bailed him out time and time again. Pickens is what we wish we had in lazard. lazard has fucked zach over. swap out those 2 WRs and the whole story is differen't you'd know that if you actually watched the steelers games. they are 6-3 depsite being outgained every game. their offense is averging 1 point more per game then ours (against easier defenses with a soft schedule so far) their D has created a turnover in the final 2 mins of 5 of their 6 wins to win the game. (8 turnovers in the final 3.5 mins of games this season). they are a tomlin and watt away from being a 2-7 team lol. also there is like 15 people on this forum active. if you want to play the popular game (which BTW I don't agree with, more people thinking something doesn't make it right) if you go on the reddit where there are hundreds of people, the large majority have the same view I have. as in hundreds of people compared to dozens that share your view. so that would make you the arrogant minority by your own account. thinking simian makes us a playoff team is crazy levels of stupidity. you need to walk that one back for sure.

I don't think it's all about Zach for JD. I mean, he did move on from Zach when he signed Rodgers. The expectation was that Zach will not even play at all this year. What I do see though with JD is that a lot of moves on offense just didn't pan out. Picking up Duane's contract, non guaranteed deal, and really signing him in the first place, Billy Turner, Cook, Lazard, Cobb, Laken and Uzomah from the year before, Hardman. Only Conklin looks decent from all the offensive FAs he signed to the current roster, and he is solid, but not exactly a world beater. I know Boyle and Simien didn't play yet, but I have no confidence in them either, just like I don't in the other guys I mentioned. I actually think these guys will make the offense worse, believe it or not, though I am willing to try it out. But the pattern I see is not that JD signs bad QBs because of Zach, but that in general he has done a shit job signing free agents on offense.
Fire JD and promote Rex Hogan. That would keep continuity. Can’t release Hackett (although we should) because of Rodgers. Saleh has been good imo keeping the team together and playing with passion. Defense is very good as is specials. The season was sunk by not bringing in QB or OT depth despite it being glaringly obvious in the offseason. That’s on JD.
Yeah but playing Rodgers over Zach wasn't really an admission that Zach sucks, because Rodgers starts over 99% of QBs. Replacing Zach with somebody who hasn't even played lately is a total admission he blows.
They kept saying they needed QB upgrade all offseason, even Woody said it. Went all in to get an upgrade. They did play Mike White, Flacco, and even Streveler over Zach last year. At this point there is nothing left to admit. JD probably misevaluated again like he did pretty much with every FA on offense, and picked Simien over Wentz, because he has some experience in that system last year, and has connection to Hack.
