One of my big questions is what if Woddy is not happy and changes are made? I have to be honest, besides the last week of the season, no win is gauranteed. I think we are good enough where I am sure we will not lose out but based on the last 3 weeks, the offense cannot score and you know the D will give in. Who would go first? JD? If Saleh goes, would the next GM/HC be mandated to keep Nate Hackett for one more year? We so clearly built this around Rogers and everybody was desperate but if there is one thing about life, the unexpected can happen. For them to double down on Zach was a colossal mistake.
If Woody is not happy, and he shouldn't be, then there is a path forward Fire Joe Douglas. You have Phil Savage already on staff, he's been a GM in this league so he can handle the day-to-day roster management for the rest of the year as the interim GM. Savage would shake it up a little in '23 and it would be a message that losing is unacceptable. After the year you hire someone with some experience and football chops preferably someone who knows something about QBs. You will have to pay for it but enough is enough. -That person then decides whether we want to hold onto the dream that 40 year old Aaron Rodgers will save the franchise. we don't HAVE to be married to Rodgers -That person decides if Robert Saleh is the right coach for this team -If that person says we need more/better analytics in the front office or more/better scouts, or more/better athletic care, then you let him lead and do what he thinks is best. Empower him and hold him responsible
If they are going to go with Rodgers next season, then I would hope they bring in a decent backup and not go with Zach. Someone like a Tyrod Taylor type or a Jacoby Brissett type of backup. Both of those QB's are what you would call decent backup QB's who can manage the game and get some wins if Rodgers gets hurt. I am not suggesting those two specifically as they might not be available to get but they need a backup QB on that level. Zach isn't it and probably never will be.
Why would people pay to watch this offensive offense, an empty stadium on Black Friday (or full of Dolphin fans) might just embarase Woody to actually do something about this "I see signs of progress" shitshow. Enough is enough.
Woody created this mess, his employees will take the fall. Of course he's not happy, and he will do the same thing he always does which is fire everybody and pick the wrong guy once again.
I agree with this post. The more and more I think about it, not sure I want Rodgers next season if it means this GM and coach get a free pass.
The only way you don’t run it back one more year (assuming Rodgers doesn’t retire) with this sorry crew is if you can go get Jim Harbaugh or someone similar to that. Otherwise the house cleaning happens after the Rodgers situation is settled. You create too much of a lame duck situation if you bring in a new regime and strap them to Rodgers for a year.
There won’t be any changes, and I think at this point they are all thinking about next year . That looked like a future welcoming with adams before the game
They aren’t that good. They beat a team with no offense . Isn’t he a free agent? If not then my mistake edit… sorry, he’s not a free agent. I do t know why I thought he was next year
As was stated earlier, the only way to a do over is to wait until the great Rodgers experiment has run its course. Once done, if no other tangible improvements can be noted THEN get the Dyson out and clean house. JD is 4 years into his rebuild and its mixed at best. Saleh is 3 years in and has yet to post a non-losing season. The team itself on paper is improved but on the field not so much. Saleh is still losing twice as many games as he's winning. Zach hasn't bloomed into a FQB as of '23. If any of these things are still true at the end of the Rodgers Era circa '25 or if no playoffs has happened, then Woody and JD will be faced with an exodus of talent from the Flying Dutchman of the Meadowlands. Human nature being what it is, guys will get tired of the losing on both sides of the ball and move on for more money or simply glory. 2024 and everybody's seat should be on fire. If not, then 2025 won't be worth watching.
That's pretty much where my head is at. Why reboot the regime in the middle of the Rodgers debacle? Just let it play out at this point.
the salary cap is a short term, yearly constraint When you hire a GM you shouldn't limit yourself with short term concerns, you hire him for the long term.
Good news! The Jets are more than halfway through the season. Thus, they have likely played more than 1/2 their offensive snaps without Aaron Rodgers. Now they only give up their 2nd round pick instead of their 1st round pick! Genius move by JD! He's playing 5-D chess.
Woody won’t do anything. He’s already salivating over being able to sell the Rodger’s dream again, this time with brand spanking new uniforms and merch. The current regime isn’t going anywhere until they’ve squeezed every last dollar out of the Rodger’s acquisition. None of what they do is with the goal of winning in mind.
