No one is disputing that the line was bad, but on several of his sacks he had between 2–3 seconds before he got hit. You simply have to bail on the play and run, roll out, or throw the ball away at that point. You can't continually take sacks that situation. And the playcalling didn't do him any favors, nor did the receivers, but that doesn't change the fact that he was horrendous. He has absolutely no pocket awareness at all.

I mostly agree with this assessment and you make some great points, but other than with let's say Tommy DeVito at the helm other than Zach Wilson at the helm, the Jets probably win last night. Let's be real here, Zach Wilson is terrible. Sam Darnold is winning that game last night, probably even The Chimp. I guess we can go there if we want to create a message board "QB Controversy" for discussion's sake, but nothing that anyone says from behind a keyboard affects results in the Win/Loss column at the end of the day. Last night's disaster with tie-breaker implications and everyone who needed to lose in the AFCE lost this Sunday, it was just so typical. So, so, so Jets.

This argument for Wilson is ridiculous, Zach Wilson, is and forever will be the biggest bust in Jets history, and that's a hard thing to be, with this Trainwreck franchise.
All these people defending Wilson, are ridiculous, and don't see this at a professional level, this is pop warner to them, where when they finally do something right, you stand up and cheer.
But I don't even care about the Wilson factor, he's not even the biggest problem, it's the moron coaching staff, and GM pushing it on the fanbase

    1. I’m shocked at how many Zach Wilson defenders I am seeing on Tuesday morning. There has been this weird phenomenon among some Jets fans trying to twist themselves into a pretzel defending Wilson

I am not shocked at all actually. Bottom line for me winning. Troy A summed it up perfectly when the 1st threw was air mailed and he said that is basic stuff... so for all those defenders, try defending his play to him who if you listen he lambasted everyone associated with this mess we call an O.

Right now, this O is dysfunctional. The OC doesn't. at least to me, seem to have a clue about what to do to foxit and the HC siad NO Changes were forth comming...I mean WTF coach, for me you just crossed the line form being part of the solution to being part of the problem.

Also, JD needs to be taken to the wood shed and read the roit act for this Fking mess he created... OL, WR or lack thereof... F him too. I am sick of losing but worst for me is the way we lose... And then you have RS looking jusy like a deer in the headlights because he is fking clueless too....

I said RS would get fired if this team implodes like last year... we are at the tipping point now.

That's because our defense is elite. Which is why you should be comparing their season stats, not cherry picking stats against one particular opponent.

QBR says he’s the second worst QB in the league. Eye test lines up.

I truly pity whatever team is playing a worse QB.

Here you go again picking fly shit out of pepper. An avg QB doesn’t spend 3 years as the worst ranked QB in the league due to his circumstances. The QB is the LEADER. They treat this kid like he’s a fucking mental case. No competition, no direct discipline, telling him he needs to read a book on a beach, giving him a fresh start, followed by a reset…. What player in that locker room feels confident that Zach has his hands on the wheel of this team? Zach is completely aimless in everything he does out there. Christ could you imagine Parcells with this kid? To not bring in competition to have reasonable options at the trade deadline is criminal. Zach has played like trash most all year. The KC game was a good game, not great, just good, and that has been the ceiling of his existence and it doesn’t show up very often at all.

except he's been coached over the last 2 years to stop bailing. bailing is not the right move. you work the pocket, climb the pocket keep your eyes downfield. the problem is the pressure was from everywhere so him doing as he should led to his arm getting hit a couple of times and forcing bad throws because of it. one being the fumble. herbert was sacked at the same rate as zach despite playing with the lead the whole game. so basically you are implying that herbert doesn't know how to QB either

outside of say a josh allen or mahomes not many QBs were winning last night on that jets team. all out best players had an off game. lazard was awful, and the 3rd/4th string right side of our o-line couldn't block anything

I myself thought it was a terrible comparison. Patrick Mahomes only comparison in any light is the fact that they both have moms who are blonde. I will however agree that we don't have much of an option at this point.

Come on man. Stop pointing to every other quarterback every time I point out something that Zach does or doesn't do.

but season stats are curbed by the variables like weather, opponents, injuries at the time etc. hurts faced our defense when we had 5th and 6th string Cbs out there guarding 2 top 10 Wrs in brown and smith and still failed.

stop saying he should do the wrong thing he's done the past 2 years that everyone complained about when he was doing the right thing now and it didn't work out.

the NFL has too few games for samples to even out. it takes a decade in the NFL to equal 1 MLB season.
and over that decade the variables keep changing as parity kicks in

Yes against us they sucked. We have a pretty good defense.

Overall, on a larger sample size, their stats are actually pretty fucking good. Their completion rates are good, their yards per game are good, their TD-Int ratios are good…and wow, their teams are pretty fucking good.

Our QB, on the other hand, does NOT have pretty fucking good stats. In fact, his stats are bottom of the league across two and a half years now.

I truly do not understand your stance that stats are meaningless and don’t matter. I will agree that in a vacuum they can be misleading, and I will also agree that in a small sample size, they can be misleading, but over the long run, they are what they are. An objective measure of performance.

In the end, QBs get probably an unfair portion of both the credit and the blame for their teams’ performance. It may not be fair, but it is what it is. It’s the single most important position on the field. It’s the one position that has the biggest influence on a team’s success. Not the ONLY influence. But the biggest. A great QB will elevate his team. A shitty QB will doom his team.

We unfortunately are on the wrong end of that scale…

stayed in the pocket to deliver a throw under pressure. unfortunately a couple of times it got his arm knocked, 1 of them leading to a fumble
