Not sure this is thread-worthy, but had to share.

Here is where the Jets' offenses have ranked over the last 13 years, from 2023 -> 2011:

    31st
    25th
    26th
    32nd
    32nd
    29th
    28th
    26th
    10th
    22nd
    25th
    30th
    25th

I knew it was bad, but this is just unbelievable. You'd think by sheer luck we'd be better than this. It would be hard to be this consistently dreadful if you were explicitly trying to be.

Rex Ryan offenses in his first 3 seasons: 17th, 13th, 13th. In the year prior to Rex, Mangini’s offense was ranked 9th and it was the last time the Jets broke 400 points.

The offenses performance degrades pretty much in lockstep with the offensive lines year to year.

That’s why it made all the sense in the world to go hire a defensive coordinator as a head coach that pretty much requires you spend a lot of resources on defensive lineman.

GMs refusing to invest in young, long-term players for offense probably had something to do with it. They just kept signing guys way beyond their prime and we suffer.

How many minutes have the Jets led by ten or more points in the entire Saleh/Wilson era? I'd be surprised if it's more than ten minutes.

Well, hiring a former linebacker is working out fairly well for Houston ...

I said it in another thread but every single resource we have going forward has to be put towards the offense until they're at least an average unit.

In today's NFL, having an offense this inept for over a decade is just ineptitude of the highest order.

They fired the offensive coordinator of the 25th ranked offense and replaced him with the 32nd

    You get what you deserve

Have to get OLine. It is criminal we can’t run the ball with Breece.

The entire sport is based on who your QB is. We have had assclowns at the position for years, hence the offense is putrid. Not that complicated.

The Jets offense has averaged one touchdown per game except for the Chiefs where they scored twice. Good news is we will set the punt record, and 3 and out record.

Our average third down conversion rate is around 20% where the league average is 60 below five yards.

Meanwhile, we still can't figure out how to recover a fumble yet every time we fumble we manage to lose it.

I don't even want to know how bad our red zone offense is.

Blows my mind man. It's like no one in the organization has watched football over the last decade. It is just truly unbelievable how incapable we are of even copying league trends, much less innovating or reinventing the wheel.

Love the stats. Always good to spell it out. What is the common thread - ATROCIOUS quarterbacking (with the exception of one year of fitzmagic (sad fitzie is our high point). But look it goes from sanchize to geno to sam to Z boy. i mean that is a murderers row. You would think by accident we would hit on someone mediocre.

That's definitely the biggest problem, but plenty of teams with bad QBs do a hell of a lot better than this. This type of sustained ineptitude is only achievable when you do basically nothing right on offense.

We sign bad OCs and let decent OCs go. We sign defensive-minded head coaches. We don't invest nearly enough draft capital into offense. We whiff on much of the draft capital we do invest into offense. We sign aging RBs who have already been on the decline for years and turn into complete pumpkins by the time they get here.

We've had this insane "ground and pound" philosophy since Rex was here. It's a philosophy that has seemingly worked its way into the deepest parts of the franchise's DNA. How many years in a row has it felt like our goal was to keep games close via our defense and hope we pull out a win at the end? Everything about the franchise has contributed to that strategy - from the drafting to the playcalling to the coaching hires. It's disgusting.

Water under the bridge now... and I actually liked coach Bowles, but that hire just really made no sense to me at the time. You theoretically wanted to move on from Rex and get a different philosophy going.... and then you just hire what amounts to a facsimile of the guy you theoretically wanted to change from and wasn't really doing anything that bad to begin with.

Like a boat with a jammed rudder just kind of puttering aimlessly around in a circle. How are you going to get somewhere different like that?

I get my balls busted every week, every week. My bud sent me a txt and said, "the jets got this." meaning they will beat the chargers...I sent him back a Txt and said put your money on the chargers because the O is offensive... and do not watch the game unless you want to see what a dysfunctional orgainzaition the NYJ are and have the BALLS to 1) raise ticket prices and 2) put this putid product on the field.
