This team has never appreciated that a deep pass attempt - even if incomplete - has a value in and of itself when it comes to creating room to make subsequent plays from scrimmage, not to mention put pressure on the defense to get called for defensive holding, defensive pass interference. We don't have the type of O-Line that can simply bulldoze a defense down the field, and every 2-3 yard play seems to represent a greater risk of a turnover or crippling offensive holding call that fatally dooms a possesion.
Still mind boggling that Rodgers goes down in week 1 and the Jets brain trust thinks rolling with Zach is the best option.
Why would there be a flag when Herbert refused to go down and refs didn't blow a whistle. Come on Joe Buck.
You can blame the pitch on Zach but Breece needs to focus on making the grab before heading upfield he has done the same on passes at times. The entire offense is screwing up on the details, Zach included but not entirely him.
