The bolded is absolutely correct. Feels like there's a massive drop-off from Tippman to Newman so I'm hoping that Tippman is able to return to action this week. At the end of the day though, these guys need to be 100% healthy before they step back on the field. With all the injuries we've already had, having guys try to return at 70-80% is a recipe for disaster and could cause more harm than good in the long run for us.
Duane Brown is returning to practice today. I know the expectation was he's returning this week but the Jets make it official today. Let's see how this shakes the line up.
I hope our genius OC rolls Zach to the right and away from DR's side. I'd hate to be stuck with the immortal Trevor Semian the rest of the year.
The sad fact is that Brown is almost certainly better than anyone Douglas can find right now. This OL travesty is entirely on JD. I'm flabbergasted how a guy who played OL in college, and came up in the Ravens and Eagles organizations, could've screwed this up so badly, but he has.
Can he really be any worse than he’s been or our RG/RT play over the past couple of weeks? I think Brown will surprise when he’s on the field.
Duane Brown is out this week per the Jets Twitter account. Frankly, the line is better for it, especially with Tippman back in.
And you would expect a decrease in QB productivity? What 3rd down conversion % would you expect under Semian? 5%? I'd like to test out the hypothesis without an injury.
The Bar is set so low now that any 3rd down conversion would be celebrated like a SB win. Its been so long since we've had competent QB play that we would be hard pressed to tell the difference in productivity between Wilson and Semian. JD purposely signed a nobody as to not threaten Zach and that's exactly what he got in Semian. So, to answer your question? I'll take whatever I can get out of the QB position and pour a glass of bourbon in celebration.
Duane Brown should get a few weeks to get fully healthy and in football shape before being played. That was the biggest issue with starting him in week one, he had no TC and minimal practice. Good move keeping him out this week.
Noooooooo! Duane Brown kinda sucks at his job at this point in his career. Not sure what he has ever done with the Jets franchise to be such a go-to offensive lineman but it seems like whatever happens, this guy, at 38 is almost guaranteed a spot. Is it really worth moving other linemen around (Becton especially) to fit him in?
He was never going to play this week. He was simply eligible to practice. It is a grace period where he can leave the IR, practice, and not take up a roster spot. I would milk that grace period as much as possible. He may not be ready when it is over though and that's when there will be a decision to make
