Maybe they just need to change their shoes. I remember when the original Astroturf was first used at least some players wore shoes that had the entire bottom covered with short cylindrical nubs.
Came on here to post this. Good sign for potentially getting him back for Monday night. Would be a huge boost to the OL to get him back this week.
Tippman finally the one player who will break Salehs curse of saying players are doing well and progressing health wise?
I remember reading a few years back that since the new CBA limited padded practices and actually hitting in practices that injuries have gone up considerably, and of course, it has greatly affected the quality of play and tackling. I think that's part of the problem. I think the turf is obviously a problem, and I think the training regimen is probably also part of the problem, perhaps a big part. I've read that players can spend too much time lifting weights and they get stronger, but they don't stretch enough and develop the right kind of strength and flexibility and that results in injuries. Over the years, I've read where some OL have taken ballet, or karate or boxing, and It helped them move better and stay injury free. Plyometrics is another option, as is working out in water. Pilates may also be a possibility.
This is really positive news. For a while there it looked like he was done for the year. Do you think they’ll consider him at his natural position?
Play center please! So how does it look, Brown at LT, Laken LG, Becton back to RT, Tipp at C, RG is Mitchell? Such a cluster fuck trying to figure it out week to week.
It would be huge if Tippman was ready play again. We need him badly! It wasn't too long ago that people were speculating about torn quad tendons and other nonsense.
IMO there's no way that Brown should be inserted back into the LT spot. He was horrible earlier. He's been on IR and not able to practice. He should have to practice for several weeks and prove that he can play at a high level before he sees the playing field. IMO Becton should stay at LT and Mitchell stays at RT. If Tippman can play C, play Newman at RG. If not, Newman or Glaser is at C, and the other (or Turner) is at RG.
At this point I say keep Brown as back up and go with the same tackles. Let Tippman at center and get the most continuity possible for at least the beginning of the game. I think bringing Brown in right away to left tackle will screw the whole thing up for both Brown and Becton. If best five will play Brown is not it as of now.
I'm not so sure. When Schweitzer switched from RG to C after the McGovern injury I believe Newman came in to replace him at guard (not Turner). Turner only came in after the Schweitzer injury. Either way, continuity is so important and this game of musical chairs w/ the offensive line is doing ZW and the NYJ no favors. Plus, at some point, we'll probably have to incorporate Brown at T and Saffold at G so who knows what this line will look like in the weeks ahead.
