I disagree that we called a lot of screens. We called more than we have in the past, but it still wouldn't qualify as "alot" imo. I don't see PA as "cute stuff." It's basic, and should help slow down the pass rush, but then we weren't effective running the ball on Sunday, so maybe that's why he didn't call more of those plays.

I hear what you're saying, but I don't think that we will keep winning with this kind of conservative/safe game plans and playcalling. If we aren't able to sustain drives and score some TDs, SD and Miami both probably blow us out once our D tires. We also have been winning in spite of our offense. If we had opened up our offense more, perhaps we would have won the games more handily and Zach would be further along in his development. I think this style of play is holding him back.

Diet Coke will kill your brain/memory (Aspartame) and it actually raises one's blood sugar level more than sugar does and causes sugar craving.

I don't disagree with your take, I was just saying that the CS has opted to do it this way and as long as it works I'm not going to complain even if it's awful to watch.
JD also came out and said he expects rodgers back this year which IDK how thats possible but the offense would surely be more opened up under him. It could be worse, look how the giants refused to throw the ball all game. at least we aren't that "safe"

I will be shocked if Rodgers is even able to come back for the playoffs. I would be gobsmacked if came back during the regular season.

same here but just repeating what JD said. IIRC he had surgery on 9-13. the lowest possible timeline I seen was 4.5 months which is Jan 27th give or take a day. the playoffs start Jan 14th. the AFC Conference champ game is Jan 28th which means if somehow we made it that far, that's best case scenario. Superbowl is Feb 11th which is 5 months from his injury (and 2 days short of 5 months from his surgery). If he was able to make it back, would it really be best to bench the QB that got us there for a guy who took 4 snaps all year? The whole situation doesn't make much sense to me

he has for sure, but he's still playing well. he also barely has shit for WRs (dell has been above average, collins has numbers but hasn't been good really, and the rest have been pretty bad) or an o-line and just decent RBs. pierce is in a sophmore slump. i'm suprised he did as well as he did to start the year

Play calling was horrific. Some stats:
    • 10 passes on first down. 7-9 for 152 yards and a sack
    • 16 rushes on first down. 28 yards.
MUST STOP RUNNING INTO STACKED BOXES. LET ZACH THROW ON FIRST.
    • 6 rushes on 2nd and 3rd down.
    • Hackett kept Zach passing on 2nd and 3rd and long.
Because of Hackett, we were pressured on 21 out of 36 drop backs. No QB is good under that much duress.

Nice to meet you GoldenShowers. 2 Questions:

    1. Why would you say he has an IQ less than 80? Being that you're dead serious, what in your background gives you the ability to objectively assess someone's IQ?

    2. You realize that he put up better stats against this bottom 5 team than Josh Allen did? And Josh Allen was at home in good weather?

One of the plays I was talking about is the 4th and 10 play late in the game where he took a sack. Carter, doesn't block, he sneaks out of the backfield around the right side of the line and cuts across the field to the left. Carter was open. I may have been mistaken about Zach being locked onto him however. Upon several subsequent viewings, it appears that maybe Zach was looking further downfield. He wouldn't have had much time to throw the ball to Carter before he tried to escape to his right, but if nothing else, he could have possibly just thrown the ball away over Carter's head. You can see that play at the Michael Nania article I posted the link for on p. 4 of this thread (post #73) right above this one.

Sacks take away from the team total for passing yards but not the individual player. That's why when you go look at the ESPN box score of the game, Zach has 240 yards passing, but the team only has 193 yards.

I think the reasons you just mentioned are why I still don't think it was a good, or even a solid, game for him. I saw multiple instances of Zach not throwing the ball to wide open guys, taking unnecessary sacks, and reverting back to some of his rookie/2nd year issues (drifting backwards out of the pocket, dirting balls at the feet of Breece, etc.). Was it the worst Zach performance I've ever seen? Absolutely not, but that bar is quite low.

I agree with you on a few things though, he was let down by the OL and his WRs on numerous occasions, he was also let down by Hackett on some of those play calls (every time I see an empty set on 3rd and short, I die a little inside), and the weather conditions definitely contributed to his overall play. So with all of that, I think the farthest I'd be willing to go for his game is to say it was below average but I still lean towards it being a pretty bad game overall for him.

I have not seen this. What plays was he not throwing to wide-open guys?

I feel like I had the opposite reaction. Thought he was ok live, though that was probably greatly influenced by what he did in those final 4 1/2 minutes, and then after watching those throws back, I thought he was pretty bad.

I saw a lot of rookie/2nd year Zach tendencies pop back up on my re-watch and that was the most troubling thing for me.
