That's because that's what he is. No one good is available. We can't get lucky with young, inexperienced OL every week like we did this past Sunday. With OL talent down, I'm sure that no one is trading any OL who is any good, and even then, they'd want an arm and a leg because they know the Jets are desperate. We just have to hope that Tippman will be back this Sunday or next with no long-term negative effects, and that Saffold will have something left in the tank, and will be able to function better for us than he did Buffalo last season. Hopefully, this desperation signing works out better than the Kalil signing.
Considering our lack of options at this point, a healthy vet isn't a horrible thing. Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk
the press release had the projected starting o-line as LT becton LG tomlinson OC Tippman RG Turner RT Mitchell
and this is why everyone in the nfl had the jets pegged with drafting an OL in the 1st rd. too bad JD was the only person not to see our obvious needs there.
we drafted one in the 2nd and he's been playing really well. we also drafted one in the 4th but he got hurt in camp and was also rehabbing a knee injury when we drafted him. 2 or our top 3 picks were lineman. 1 is starting now and has been for a few weeks and playing well, then got hurt. warren will be the primary backup OT this upcoming weekend now and kelly will be the next backup who was just brought up form the PS yesterday along with smart who takes woods place. these have been our injuries on the o-line alone LT brown (yeah he sucked but still) RG/RT AVT OC CMG RG/OC tippman OG Schwietzer outisde of becton (who moved back to LT form RT) and tomlinson the rest of the line is blowing through lineman like nothing. we've lost 4 players at the OC/RG position
Yes it’s not like JD neglected the position he has drafted several very high (Becton, AVT, Tippman) and a couple of redshirts..Clarke, Warren…signed several in FA like McGovern, Tomlinson, Turner….etc. It’s just that the Jets have had extremely bad luck for whatever reason especially with injuries. JD didn’t have the luxury of drafting OL every round - nearly every position needed help. I think this coming offseason the OL will be more prioritized considering there is not much else other than WR which seems to be a pressing need. The Jets need a young tackle and another guard and that’s not including the usual added depth pieces. Unfortunately when the injury bug bites as hard as it did to the OL this year there’s not much that can really be done unless a team is willing to part with high draft picks for a rental ….
exactly. also the o-line pool is pretty bad. as a whole across the NFL the d-lines are way better then the o-lines. probably 4-5 teams have good o-lines and the rest are struggling. were really no worse off then most even with the injuries.
Man, if this doesn't sum up JD's painful penchant for bargain hunting to the detriment of our team then I don't know what does...
A far better and younger option was just traded today for a sixth round draft pick. Seriously, I demand to know why the fuck we didn’t beat that!
he was pro bowler last year….some members in here are really stupid and will bitch like pussies regardless what jd did
does the younger one know the scheme? Maybe they said no to the jets? The player has no trade clause? god members on this board complain just bc
I commented on another post that it wouldn’t surprise me if Minnesota simply refused to even listen to the Jets - they may still be irked about getting fleeced for Herndon for all we know …
Ha! I remember that fleece for sure! But fuck them…it’s payback for Antoine Winfield Sr, and who was the other LB also who were both going to sign with us and then Minny swooped in and signed them from under us? The LB actually agreed to the deal before signing day and then changed his mind. And then there’s the way Kirk Cousins used us and ended up taking less money to sign with them. So yah…fuck the Vikings
What the actual fuck? JD brings an old man off the coach who was absolutely abysmal last year. In the meantime Ezra Cleveland, who is 25 years old and has played extremely well is available for a 6th round pick? 6th round pick to give Zach (and maybe Aaron later) a little bit more protection up front, which he hasn't had his entire career here. How does this happen? A 6th round pick for a guy in the position we desperately need. Has JD even watched the Giants game? Hello JD, our offense stinks, the QB is pressured more than half the drop backs. And you can help by spending a 6th round pick. No, why don't we bring a washed up vet off the couch, who played like absolute dog shit last year. Because it saves us a 6th round pick! Fucking brilliant.
