actually Huff is not on an UDFA contract. The Jets tendered Huff as an RFA with a 2nd round distinction in the offseason. Huff signed it and is making a little over 4 million in 2023

Great display of effort and athleticism. But I'm pretty skeptical that "it absolutely impacted the play". More likely just bad contact for a kicker who has been battling a leg injury and has less than a 65% make rate this year. In fact, when you watch the replay slow- mo, it looks a lot more like a bad snap and hold "absolutely impacted the play".

Yeah, I think a 6 ft 4 240 lb man with a massive wing span jumping at you from within 10 feet absolutely has an impact on the play.

Yeah, I think if the leaper hits anyone its a penalty, but in the second clip you can see JJ pushing down the guy so help WMD clear it? Not sure the ruling about that b/c I thought you can't hit the C at all.

Well McD hadn't yet jumpted when contact with the ball was made so the wingspan and long arms didn't impact the kick unless there's a physics conspiracy theory at play here and the ball adjusts to in-flight threats. And he's 5 yards off the spot, not within 10 ft. Agree to disagree I suppose. I just don't see it when I rewatch the play in slo- mo and analyze the kicker's position in relation to the ball and McD.

Agreed, good effort, but he wasn't the one that caused a miss. Kicker didn't even look at him. Maybe McD would have blocked it if the kicker hit it towards his right, but that's not what happened. Their kicker screwed up most likely all on his own, and thank you very much for that!

 

This is what good teams do. Most didn’t realize this and just saying gano missed. McDonald made him miss!!! We didn’t get the win gifted…we go the opp and we fucking took it!!!

WMD’s athletic ability is matched only by the mental gymnastics performed on this message board.

 

It's disappointing he's made no impact on defense thus far (though that kick disruption was incredible) and you hope for more from a 1st round pick. Especially since we were getting excited about this guy in the preseason where he was routinely standing out - only preseason, but showed he could play. We're not even halfway through his rookie season and he's playing in a deep group. I'm far from writing him off or calling him a bust.
