Yes we won an ugly game today but still, we are on a 3 game winning streak. Chargers are coming to town and then we are heading to Las Vegas to face the Raiders. Can we make it 5 game in a row? Last time we did that was in 2015 with Fitzpatrick under Bowles.
Short answer no lol. Love ya Brook but we have a decimated OL and arguably the worst QB in the league. If we win the next 2 I will be equally ecstatic as shocked.
Well, I would love that, but it’s a stretch. It would require a major transformation of our offense in the face of a decimated line and an erratic QB that takes a small step forward one week, followed by a large step backward the next week. Not to mention a mediocre or non existing running game and what it boils down to a one receiver show.
It depends on what’s going on with the oline men that got hurt today. If Conor and Wes are available, then yes it’s definitely possible. It’s much harder without them Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The biggest reason why winning two more in a row is unlikely is that this team is wildly erratic. They could easily be 6-1 (winning the New England and KC games), and could easily be 1-6 (losing the Buffalo, Philadelphia, and Giants games), so being 3-4 or 4-3 is exactly right about what you would expect. The Chargers are averaging 24.9 points per game on offense (9th in the league), and even if the Jets defense plays well, I don't see how the offense will score enough points to win. The Raiders offense is only averaging 16.0 points per game (even less than the 18.0 PPG of the Jets), and their defense isn't nearly as good as the Jets defense (23.0 PPG given up, compared to 18.4 PPG given up), so the Jets could very well be favored, even though the game is on the road. Thus, I could see the Jets being 5-4 in a couple of weeks, but 6-3 seems pretty unlikely (and 4-5 is hardly out of the question, either). Having said all that, they'll probably beat the Chargers and lose to the Raiders, just because, well, Jets.
Same here. If Thibodeaux doesn't jump offside on Wilson's 30-yard completion to midfield the Jets run out of time. The penalty stopped the clock with 17 seconds left. Also, if Gano hits one of those field goals then we are having a different conversation about the Jets today.
If David Tyree didn’t make one of the most ridiculous circus catches in the history of the NFL the Giants don’t win a Super Bowl. It all comes out in the wash. Don’t overthink it… burn the tape and move on to the next game.
Don't devalue the impact of a team traveling coast to coast. I see a win vs Chargers and a loss to the Raiders.
Fair point and the Jets also took stupid penalties yesterday as well. The Giants don't score a touchdown without the dumb penalties giving them extra chances. Going to have to do a lot better vs the Chargers. The Jets defense will keep them in it, but they will need some help from the offense. Unlike Devito, Herbert can throw the ball.
I stopped trying to figure out what’s going to happen game to game at about 845pm on Monday 9/11. I thought we’d lose by 45 to the Chiefs and we were some shit calls away from winning. Consider yesterday our makeup for that game I guess. Like I said it all comes out in the wash. But yea if we replicate yesterdays performance next week we are losing by 45.
Sure, there are plenty more Achilles tendons on this team that we can sacrifice unto the football gods in exchange for the blessing of a victory. More seriously, not if they play like this again. Relying on your opponent to be forced to play their UDFA third string QB, and for their kicker to be playing on a bum knee and to miss easily make-able field goals, may have worked this week but is not a viable long term strategy.
The injuries to the OL are a real concern. The Jets defense will keep them in every game, but the offense will have to be much better than it was yesterday.
Wouldn’t be able to do it without this gangster. https://x.com/VinnyandthaJets/status/1718744504109265349?s=20
So a couple of things to keep in mind regarding this next game … the Chargers pass defense supposedly has issues. They give up yardage in chunks. This plays into Zach’s hands. Also the Chargers are traveling east …. this seems to be more an issue for WC teams then vice versa. The Jets up to now have been rather fortunate with the schedule set up. They caught the Eagles in between a west coast game and a much anticipated matchup with Miami. They also had a couple of key injuries. They played the Giants coming off a bye - had they played almost any other team they wouldn’t have survived their bye week doldrums - now they have a west coast team flying in…. Im not saying the Jets will win but the schedule just gift them in this way….but this OL needs some fortifications badly. They can’t keep chugging along like this….I expect a couple of semi-major moves before tomorrow afternoon.
I think they can make it to five games in a row. Both of these teams are absolutely beatable. Not by the team that played yesterday, but definitely by the Jets that played the Eagles two weeks ago. Realistically, the Giants could have easily been shut out if not for a fumble and stupid penalties. I always knew this was going to be a close game, I did not understand how so many people thought it would be a blow out. The Giants have a very good defense in their own right. I wouldn't be comfortable betting on the Jets winning the next two games, but I definitely think its possible.
Just can’t point to ANY games as gimme’s with this team. It is what it is. There was a post earlier pointing out how easily we could be 6-1 or 1-6…we won a few games with crazy luck that doesn’t happen often, so the wins are great but by no means dominating wins. It’s a crazy game. The Chargers are much more dangerous on offense, so next week’s game may be a bit opposite of this one…may be more of an offensive show on both sides. We’ll see. Traveling to the Raiders will be tough…good that they will be coming off a Monday night game, but we tend to have trouble traveling west…if this game were at home, I’d feel good about our chances, but on the road it’s a toss up. Nothing would shock me…I could see losing the next two games to a good Chargers offense and to a west coast travel bug…I could see beating the uneven Chargers at home and beating a not great Raiders team playing after Monday night, or I could see us going 1-1 in the next two (and flip which one is the win or the loss). Our team is very unpredictable, mostly because of our erratic QB play.
