I think Clowney actually did make the team however, but I don't recall his ever doing anything during his time on the roster.
Chad Morton. Oh boy. Remember--He's the guy the Redskins signed to an offer sheet after the 2002 season which the jets COULD easily match and retain Morton. Somehow, unbelievably, Terry Bradshaw tried to "match" the offer sheet and screwed it up. It is NOT hard to match an offer sheet--basically just copy their offer sheet and change the names. Somehow, Bradway messed this up. The Redskins complained that their offer sheet was not properly matched, and an arbitrator was appointed to decide. BEFORE THE HEARING, the arbitrator disclosed (which he must) that he (the arbitrator) had SEASON TICKETS to the redskins games and offered to step down if the jets wanted him to withdraw. Bradway, after hearing this, unbelievably, still consented to that arbitrator deciding the case. Guess what? He ruled for the Redskins and the jets lost Morton. You can't make this stuff up.
I can't remember either but I recall we all thought he'd be our Jerry Rice...but he never seemed to duplicate that good TC catch.
Clowney made the Jets a couple seasons he actually has 1 NFL touchdown to his name. But it occurred in the infamous Sanchez hot dog game against the Raiders so it was overshadowed
How about LB Demario Davis? I distinctly remember him tackling one of the top RBs in the league (I don't recall his name, maybe someone can help me out) from behind after he had broken into the clear for a sure TD. Maybe Davis was filling in for Harris that day but we didn't hear much from him (as a Jet) after that. In typical Jets fashion, he was subsequently traded to NO where he has been one of the top LBs in the league for the last 10 years making all-pro and pro-bowl. Late edit: Davis was not traded to NO. He became a free agent and signed with NO after 2017 season.
What's funny is it wasn't the only time! There is another clip of Sanchez appearing to finish up chicken tenders on the sideline during a game in Philly and he was telling then Eagles QB Nick Foles "you should try the chicken tenders, they are good"... Sanchez eats like we do during football games
Say what you want about him as a QB, but he's a hard guy not to like. I wish it turned out better with him as a longterm solution at QB
If I remember correctly, Ratliff and Clowney connected twice on long TDs in two different preseason games that year.
I really hope jones plays instead. tyrod is alot more crafty and safe. jones is just a train wreck right now
The Jets have prepped for 5 big-armed scramblers in the first 6 games of the year. Tyrod will be the least of them by mile. I don't really think it matters who the Giants start, I only think it matters what Jets show up after the bye.
I considered John Conner to be the sign of imminent doom for Rex. Don't ask me why, he was singularly unimportant. Rex had an air of vanity that tended to shatter and crumble when things went wrong, like his smoke and mirrors defense, which was immediately top in the league, and then disappeared the moment he had to double a receiver. John Conner was a strange signature moment for Rex.
