Yes, Smart. I liked him...was sorry to see him go. A true underdog. But again, a numbers game I suppose. With draft picks Clemens, Jermain, and now Will, I guess we had enough, and already have an UDFA doing pretty darn good rushing the QB too.
Next year you may be able to add Jarrick Bernard-Converse to that list. He was a 6th round pick and the Jets were high on him. He's been injured this year so his rookie season is a waste, but hopefully he'll be healthy next season and could show us why the Jets were high on him. Also, wasn't Irvin Charles a waiver signing? He's turned into a STs ace according to Boyer and Saleh.
yeah I liked him on hard knocks too but he's 27 and hasn't made a final 53 yet so he probably won't. he's on our PS though i believe
Have you watched the last two weeks? You don't need Boyer or Saleh to tell you that he has become a very good special teamer. Forced the fumble vs Denver on the opening punt + was a demon last week as a gunner vs Philly. Will be very fun when Hardee comes back and Irv Charles is on the other side.
that sucks. hopefully he can catch on somewhere. kinda sucks seeing a guy with his family and trying to make the team and then not making it
Good news! I just checked to see who was on the PS, and Smart is back on the PS. I remember being sad when he was waived and then surprised that no one picked him up. According to two sources, the following are on the Jets' PS as of 10/15. 14 Trevor Siemian, QB 6-3 220 Northwestern 35 Xazavian Valladay, RB 5-11 204 Arizona St. 86 Malik Taylor, WR 6-1 220 Ferris St. 81 Zack Kuntz, TE 6-8 251 Old Dominion 68 Dennis Kelly, OL 6-8 321 Purdue 65 Xavier Newman, OL 6-2 297 Baylor 64 Jason Poe, OL 6-1 300 Mercer 51 Marquiss Spencer, DL 6-4 295 Mississippi St 50 Elerson Smith, DL 6-6 262 Northern Iowa 79 Tanzel Smart, DT 6-1 295 Tulane 41 Marcelino McCrary-Ball, LB 6-0 214 Indiana 31 Craig James, (2 Activations) CB 5-10 195 Southern Illinois 27 Tae Hayes, (1 Activation) CB 5-9 188 Appalachian State 39 Kalon Barnes, CB 6-0 186 Baylor 38 Trey Dean, S 6-2 200 Florida 35 Tyreque Jones, S 6-2 195 Boise St.
james played really well last weekend. I think he's still on the active roster right now. If he goes back down to the PS he may get picked up
James had that nice pass break-up in the end zone before that questionable Eagles touchdown in the 1st quarter. He was on the field a lot.
Thx for postin this along with the activations--I had thought Siemian was the backup but it's still Boyle. Slightly off topic--I know where to get the morning/afternoon inactives before a game but I can't seem to find a list of the 45 who dress--in other words I never know who's been activated from the PS prior to gametime. Does anyone have a source?
the roster is 53 not including the PS. the inactives are the 8 players who don't dress out of the 53 for the game. PS players have to be rostered 1st, they can't go from PS to active.
Ya--ok--could you share a source for who then is on the 53 as of game day morning? Said another way, how did you know that Tae Hayes was going to be dressing for the philly game if you don't mind me asking.
The Jets twitter account posts all transactions and roster changes the day they happen. For a current list of rostered players, go to https://www.newyorkjets.com/team/players-roster/
Cherry picking the bad moves is pretty easy to do but lazy. The whole thread was created about how great some of his acquisitions were, expect perfection and you will stay disappointed in every aspect of life. I hope people realize if we got rid of JD there are a couple of dozen teams that would be falling over themselves to get him. The negativity on the board is comical at times.
Coming off a week where all of JD's low-cost assets led us to a victory over an undefeated team, this is your takeaway? Edit: obviously not all, feels like I need to clarify that here...
