Sunday's dramatic victory on national TV over the Eagles was a game most of us won't soon forget.
If things break the right way for the Jets, it could the moment it turned around the season. With this week being a bye week we have two weeks to savor it. Two weeks thinking about Tony Adams. If we weren't thinking about Tony Adams much before, we might now remember him for years to come. A Jets "one-hit-wonder" or the start of good career?

I thought this might be a fun thread idea to name other "Immortal "Jets players who we always remember for one brief shining moment. (Preferably good, dark-siders) ) I have a couple of other names in mind but I want to see if others mention them.

    Who you got?

Yeah, I always just thought of him as J.A.G.... but he sure stepped up... but he's yet to reach the immortal levels of Ashtyn Davis

I remember Ken Rose getting (I think) three sacks against the Giants in that great win to end the 1988 season. Knocked the Giants out of the playoffs! The trouble was, he weighed about 215 pounds and didn't register another sack the rest of his career.

I remember McMillan having offered more more than that, but maybe not. I do recall him stepping in front of a sideline pass inside the ten and taking it to the house. It happened right in front of me in my old Giants Stadium seats (122)

    LeFleur's system is terrible... ;)

I still think the White should've been Pat Ryan 2.0

His first 2 years were great and then, not so much..... I know it's longer than the others mentioned, but, he seemed like he was going to be a perennial pro bowler.

IMO your basic premise for the thread in the beginning was good, but you turned it decidedly negative by asking only for other "one-hit wonders" rather than also asking for names of players who were young, had a big game, and then their career took off. The Jets are very high on Adams, hopefully for good reason. This should be the start of many good things to come from him. He showed some flashes last year as well, and won the starting job in TC, so it's not like this came from left field.

I don't remember other players whose career had been kind of quiet, then had a big game and their careers took off from there, but probably most of very good, great Jets players would fall into that category, and I think that Zach Wilson may just fall into that category when we look back in a few years. We'll see that this season, and perhaps the KC game was the turning point for him. That whole thing though is kind of mistaken. With actors/actresses there is talk of there being "discovered" as if a switch flipped and they suddenly were great, when the reality is, that most of them had been laboring, working at their craft for years before being discovered. I'm sure it's the same thing with Adams. He is very talented and athletic, but had to learn the scheme and had to refind his technique and learn the subtle nuances of playing S.

Matt Robinson, maybe? We ended up trading him but I remember a lot of folks wanted to keep him over Todd.

Different sport but anyone remember Aaron Small on the Yankees? Was 10-0 down the stretch in 2005 when the rotation was beat up. Almost ten years in between starts.

    Antonio Allen converted to corner at one point when everyone was hurt and also gave Gronk problems. Pick 6 again the Patriots in 2013;

I can think of 2 players that had great games then oblivion.

    1. Darron Lee LB, intercepted 2 passes, I think one for a TD. I think this was in the first game of the season against Detroit, Sam Darnold's debut. He didn't do much after that. He was very quick but not strong at the point of attack for a MLB. I remember him getting eaten up on running plays. Don't know why they didn't try him out on the edge. He might have made a good PR.
    2. Jaicquawn Jarrett, S, I think he intercepted 2 passes in one game for the 2014 Jets and was never heard from again.

Side Note: My physical therapist at the time had a signed jersey, no. 37 of Jarrets in his facility. I remember being impressed and thought he might show up for treatment, but like his career, it never happened.

Damn didn’t even realize that. I remember that INT clear as day too. Tip-toed the sideline and I believe jumped in over the pipeline on the defensive right.

Just saw that in true Rex fashion, obviously the fullback rushed the ball 6 times.

The idea was more about a player we remember, but really for just one game or even one play. Obviously the book is still out on Adams' career, but i believe even if his career tanks, that years from now we will remember him from that play.

Just ignore all the nonsense in the post you responded to. The concept is great as we’ve had a bunch.

Erik Coleman also comes to mind. Looked like a decade long Jets free safety his rookie year and never emulated that season again.
