I’m not really big trade picks for players especially during the season but we badly need another receiver. The below might be available Courtland Sutton Jerry Jeudy Marquise Brown Davante Adams There are some other players out there at positions that I don’t think would really make sense so I didn’t list them.
Agree WR will have to be addressed next year or before but not sure it matters with ZW at QB--he can't get the ball to Davante so why bother? If we get Aaron back when it matters it would be nice to have another vet but the guys u address seem a little high priced given the low probabilty. TuTu Atwell had some nice games when Kupp was out--don't know what it would take to spring him loose. I'd like to see Gipson get more plays in the slot over the next few weeks too.
No to Jeudy. I like Sutton better. tutu doesn’t do much for me, he’d be doing the same thing as Gipson. Adams yes. Brown is decent. Depends on price
Great point why waste a pick ZW can't make more than 1 or 2 reads anyway. Wish we weren't relying on Cobb tho
“Don’t bother trading for a WR because Zach Wilson” Solid, sound opinion. Impenetrable logic. Either way I’d throw Renfrow on there. Reliable as could be and won’t cost much.
Sutton is an intriguing option to me. Someone who can win downfield and go up and over a DB. If Denver wants a day 2 pick though they can go kick rocks. I'm not doing them any favors helping them out. You want a Day 3 pick? Sure.
Sutton was the one I was really zeroing in on. Davante will cost too much and he has a massive deal we’d have to absorb. We’d also have him under contract next year with a possible out after 2024. Jeudy simply can’t catch the ball with his hands. Marquise Brown has had an underwhelming career. Can’t believe the Ravens traded him and a 3rd for a first.
Maybe a KJ Osborne for MINN. Not a sexy name but wouldn't cost much. Solid route runner. Would be an improvement in the slot.
Sign me up for the Sutton bandwagon as well. 6'4" 215, solid run blocker, solid contested catch guy. Would be our WR2 behind GW. Worst case he and Lazard are WR2a/2b. The contract is not ideal but not crushing by any means. Could maybe even try to flip Lawson/Hardman to make the cap hit for this year more digestible too. I think most of us would prefer an OT, I just don't think any of those are going to be available at the deadline, at least not one's that are worth giving up picks/players for.
Hasn’t Joe Douglas made an in-season trade every year since he's been here? I think there's a solid chance we are involved with someone
I was about to start a thread on this but since this thread has been primarily discussing WRs. It's time to reduce Cobb's role significantly. I'll love Cobby til the day I die for what he did for my Wildcats but I believe he's done. "Randall Cobb might be the worst player at any position in the NFL. • 40% drop rate (worst in NFL) • 31.3 PFF run block grade (129th/129) • 46.5 overall PFF grade (111th/112) • 3 catches for 20 yards on 12 targets • Playing 49% of snaps #Jets need to make a change." Short term fix could be to give Gipson, Brownlee, or Charles more run and see what they can do but a better option would be to slide him down the depth chart to WR4/5 (where he should've been all year) by trading for one of the guys mentioned in this thread already.
Of course it'd be nice to have Sutton--he's shown he's a quality receiver and with Aaron at QB he'd be productive most likely. His price is a little high tho--according to overthecap hes got 18mm cap charges for 24 and 25 and dead money issues if cut. How that would change in a trade IDK--but on the surface he looks overpaid IMO.
The thought process for bringing him in was sound IMO but elevating him to WR3 after CD retired was not. If he's your WR4/5/6, that's understandable. Hard to see any legit reason he's WR3 though, other than he's friends with Rodgers and Hackett.
He held onto that 2-pt conversion--lots of guys would have dropped it on the hit. Sure, he's pretty washed up but he still has the veteran ability to hang onto a ball. He's decent redzone therefore and he can handle punts in rain weather. He's cheap too. I think he is worth more than his contract value to hold but of course in most cases, I'd rather see Gipson get the experience.
Yup, this went south after CD retired. The problem is for some reason, the coaching staff never adjusted. Gipson and Hardman are far and away better options. They have fallen so in love with the fact that Cobb is a "reliable vet" that they don't realize he's unreliable. I don't even know if we'd feel this need to go after a WR if Cobb was seeing 6 snaps and Hardman was seeing 30+, but here we are. Adams is the dream but will cost too much Renfrow is the best bargain addition Sutton would be the right combo of talent and price (I think)
