It's not that crazy. This team just beat a super bowl contender and almost beat the Super bowl champions a couple weeks back. This Jets team over the past few years has been a day late and a dollar short, meaning they play competitive with many good teams but always seem to come up just short. This year they are closing out those good teams and defense is sealing games with late turnovers. Also we can probably dead the narrative that the Jets only beat backup QBs. Another interesting thing is that 5 or 6 different starting QBs got injured yesterday. I'm not sure of the severity yet, but the door is wide open for the Jets right now. The hardest part of the schedule is done.
Agreed, it will not be a give me. Knowing the Jets luck, the Giants will be 100% healthy just in time for this game and they are a different team with Andrew Thomas playing. Also is there any news on Tippman? I know he left early in the game, but didn't catch if he returned.
Could be out a while apparently. MRI today. Expect the worst I think. Genuinely, I sometimes think this game sometimes comes down to which team in contention can keep most of their starters upright.
Love the prediction @Brook! ... but it feels a bit early. I don't even agree that the schedule gets all that much easier.
I feel like this win saved the season from boredom. But the eagles were flatter than a pancake so I cant put to much hope in an any given Sunday win - yet. If were 5-5 after 10 games things will get real. Let start by trouncing the Giants.
It's Salah's 'out for a while' quote I read in a USA Today article. By that logic, he's back after the bye week
I'm hoping the football gods can't be that cruel to us. 1st rodgers, then AVT, if we lose tippman too thats gonna hurt
We'll have to step it up on offense if we want to go anywhere beyond .500... Can't rely on our defense to win every game... it's just not sustainable.
This is still a team thZt can lose against anyone.....don't overlook that....this crazy after win counting certain games as wins already.... immature...ignores our hx
Agreed. They won't be able to replicate this every game. Zach needs to take some notes from Tyrod Taylor and start getting the ball out quicker. That can definitely help mask some oline deficiencies.
Yeah…we haven’t earned the right to call ANY game a gimme…shit, WE are the team that OTHER teams look at and say, ok cool…the Jets are a gimme win Until we play well and beat the teams we should beat, that narrative won’t change
If Zach has taken them that far or not prevented them from getting that far, why in the world would you then bench him in favor of Boyle who hasn't done jack? Zach has to turn things around vs NE sooner or later. Boyle would have little or no chemistry or timing with the receivers and the OL wouldn't be used to his cadence, he doesn't have the arm talent Zach has, and he could just as easily have a horrible game vs NE than Zach could.
Lol, keep in mind, they're not even the top 15th ranked defense, statistically speaking, not even worth talking about, but they have done well against the elite QBs this season, and are the 3rd ranked Red zone defense.
Our defense can hang with any team in the league. They have shown this already. Our ability to win or lose any given week will hinge on our offenses ability to convert red zone drives to touchdowns. If our offense takes a step forward in this area, the Jets can beat any team in the NFL any week. And I'm not even saying they need to be great in the redzone. But league average does it. This should be absolute focus #1 for the coaching staff during the bye. Period end of story.
This will definitely improve. It has been a lot of everything that can go wrong has, in the red zone. It kind of impressive the points we are to put on the board with such bad red zone play. Winning scores last week kc- 19 Baltimore- 24 Washington- 24 Minn- 19 Cinci- 17 clev-19 houston-20 LV-21 Rams-26 Jets-20 Bills- 14 Dallas-20 The Jags and Dolphins are the only teams to score more than 30 5 teams scored less than 20 and won. For all of our "offense" of struggles, we are not doing to bad. We start converting in the Red Zone this team will go on a run.
I think it will improve too. It's Zach's next step between the ears confidence wise. AND I think our play calling when we approach the 30 needs to change. We tend to go run heavy when we get in field goal range. Perhaps lack of trust in Zach and thinking let's create a short 3rd down if not take points. This mentality needs to change and I believe it will. Zach has shown he can be trusted at this point. Then when near the goal line I expect us to use our big bodies and throw some jump balls i.e. Lazard, Conklin, and even GW. GW isn't big but he can control his body and bring those down.
