Defense is lights out this year. Other than the Cowboys game, they kept Jets in every single game and made us win against the Bills and Eagles. We almost won against the Chiefs as well. So looks like this team rises to the occasion especially at home. Our next 3 games will most likely determine our path to Playoffs. I believe if we win next 3 games, we will make the playoffs. Week 7 we are BYE Week 8 we play Giants at MetLife at 1 PM Week 9 we host Chargers at MetLife on Monday Night Football Week 10 we are playing Raiders in Vegas on Sunday Night Football(Not sure if they will move this or not yet) If we win all these games we will be 6-3 and will have 8 more games to play. Going 4-4 rest of way will make us 10-7 and will open the door for playoffs. Okay. Dreaming a little. Too early for playoff discussion but it is Bye week and we are coming off a great win that gives us hope.
We're probably not going to win the Division as we're not as balanced as the Bills and Phins so we're competing for one of 2 spots behind them. If we go on that 3 game run then we'll have tiebreakers over the AFC West teams who'll finish behind KC meaning we're up against whoever the North has (Week 17@Browns) and maybe the Texans (Week 14@Metlife).
Started 6-3 last season but the schedule is easier at this point than it was last. I’m really intrigued by the Dolphins. They score a lot and I expected them to beat the Bills earleir in the season by a fair margin but I guess our defense is typically just that good. If the first matchup with the Phins goes in our favor then there’s a real chance for them to go 5-1 in the division, especially if the Bills keep playing down to opponents like they did last night.
9 wins will get someone in from the AFC. Beat Vegas + the Gmen and figure out a way to split Chargers/Bills and we are right in the middle of it baby.
Hopefully we'll be ready to play coming out of the BYE week. Historically, this has never been the case.
It's much harder to win the next three games than it is to make the playoffs having won the next three games.
After the Chiefs loss you could get the Jets O5.5 wins at +125, god that feels like it was stealing now after beating Denver and Philly. Also have a Jets to make the playoffs ticket at +800 from 10/5. Like my chances considering how schedule the rest of the way. I really think 9 gets one team in, maybe 2.
This defense is one of the best in the league. If Wilson can continue to be a good game manager type of QB along with Breece and G.Wilson making plays, then they will definitely compete for a playoff spot. I wouldn't be surprised if the Jets shut out the Giants. That's right... a shutout. ZIP, nada, nothing.
The division is still very much in play. The Bills almost lost to the Giants and the Panthers gave Miami a scare going up 14. The playoffs and the division can possibly come down to week 18. If tha happens do you let Zach play the Pats or start boyle?
Looking ahead after the bye the Jets have a "road" game vs the Giants followed by the Chargers and at Raiders. If they can win those three games, then they will be 6-3 heading to OP with huge divisional game vs the Bills.
Plus the Giants always give us problems, and they're desperate. On paper they should be a reliable win, but with those other factors, it's far from a cinch.
I feel like you're doing a repeat of what I did last year. It was a little later in the season, but I was playing the "go .500 and you're in" game then as well, as well as many other seasons. Although it feels good to do it again, it's been awhile... Lol. Theoretically, and based on the way they're playing, if they get to 6-3 with the schedule they have later in the year there's no reason they can't win 10-11 games. However, this is the Jets. I've been conditioned to expect the worst. I can't play that what if game with them because their history has shown me that they will play down to the bad teams and give you hope against the good ones. I'm going to stay level-headed and take each game as it comes because the alternative is getting my hopes up and having my balls kicked in for the 30th time.
Never never. Absolutely right. And let's not forget, we were all starting to look at the Giants like a gimme but after the way they played last night, not so sure that's a gimme at all.
love your optimism brook. it's certainly possible. chargers will be tough. we should beat the giants and raiders but we are known for shitting the bed in "easy" games like the pats game this year
