Yup. They'll pick a guy you need with the 24. Then you guys will probably pick the wrong guy at 25 and they will pick the guy you should've, with the 32nd pick. This will deff screw you over.
They have Maroony. Dillion and Faulk... the only way I think they could screw us over is if there was a RB available there... I don't see that happening
1. I wouldn't get on THAT bandwagon. Pats did have fantastic draft when it came to the defensive side of the ball. Their ability to assess offensive talent is at best average (and I am being very, VERY generous to say this.) One salient example would be Deion Branch, undersized WR that couldn't break 1000 yd even as Brady's go-to guy. He was picked in 2nd round. Other than Brady (and the credit for Brady pick does not go to Belichik/Pioli tandem, mind you) and maybe their OL picks (Koppen/Light/Mankins) there is nothing to write home about. (Ok... jury is still out on Maroney.) 2. So which would you have preferred? 9-7 record, backing into the playoffs? We all got our wishes granted with the playoff. This is the price to pay, is it not?
That's assuming the Jets are going after a running back. They could just as easily be going after a DE, a CB, or an O-lineman, all of which I'm thinking are at the top of the Pats' list as well.
I still cannot believe Seattle gave up a 1st rd pick for Deion Branch. That was one of the worst trades in the history of the game.
Well Homgren must have thought Branch was the key to open up the door to become SB Champs thus the reason he would cede a #1 pick for him. Also you remember we were also in the hunt for Branch so we must have upped the ante for Sea to secure him
so then the draft slots go by your record rather then the way you finish during the season including the superbowl??? i would think the team that won the superbowl would be 32 and the team that lost 31 and so forth and so on.. answer me this to i seen alot of people saying if only if a certain team goes to the superbowl or wins the superbowl it would change our position in the draft.
The Jets position is set. The only way we don't pick 25th is if, it's traded or a team that picks earlier commit a rules violation and lose that pick. To lose a first round pick, the violation has to be close to murder. The Super Bowl winner does pick 32 and the team they defeat pick 31. Other tahn that, it's the record. Go to what ever sports site you trust and look it up.
How the hell did the Jets "up the ante" for him to be secured by Seattle? If we "upped the ante" then we would have acquired him, correct?
This is the time of year to be a glass half full kind of guy. With NE picking one spot ahead of us that means they can kick themselves for the next 10 yrs for not picking whomever we walk away with.
If the right people aren't available at 25 or 37 my guess is the Jets will trade down a bit and take the next tier of guys. 25 = a big run-stuffing end or tackle or potentially a great right tackle if they see one. 37 = a quality tailback, linebacker or defensiveback if they see one. That's just my guess. The Patriots are looking for different things from the 24 and the 30/31/32 than the Jets are, I'd be really surprised if they wound up taking somebody the Jets want.
