I said this game would be more telling than last week and it was. The team showed up and won despite not playing their best game. Organization needed a win so badly. Got a road win and sends us into week 6 with a chance to get back to .500
It wasn't a great throw, not ideal placement, but not an awful one. Could have been caught by GW. Maybe a defensive hold? Not ZW's worst INT
the op said something about benching the qb... I was gonna go with bench gw... But was cutting him slack..it did go right thr his arms
Payton had the refs and still got his ass kicked by a team with Nate Hackett and Zach Wilson. Should have stayed retired.
Again, Zach showed some progress, making some "big boy" throws when he had to, and keeping his wits about him a lot better than he has in the past. And the INT shouldn't have happened - either GW needs to pull that ball in, and/or the refs should've called PI, it was blatant. But apparently there's a clause in the rules that prohibits calling PI in favor of the Jets. But Zach is still making mistakes that he shouldn't be. Early in the game, holding the ball and not throwing it away. At the end of the half throwing a completion to the outside instead of just throwing it out of bounds - not getting those 3 points could've cost them the game. The fumble because he didn't secure the ball better (yes, I know, it was fluky because it was kicked out of his hand by the defender falling to the ground, but you've got to secure the ball). And finally, yet another game that was there for him to assert himself and win it, but instead had to be bailed out by Breece the the defense. It's good that they won, and Zach showed that he can move the team under pressure, but he needs to take that next step. I still think he can, and I don't know if it's Hackett/Saleh drilling him to be cautious above all else, or what, but I'm still waiting for that break out game. He didn't do anything to silence most of his critics, but he got the "W", and that counts. He's going to really be test next week against the Eagles. He'd better up his game by then.
Payton is such an overrated coach. He had the best QB in the NFC and did nothing for the next ten years after winning his Super Bowl. Also had some of most brutal chokejob playoff games against the 49ers, Vikings, etc.
Tippman was walking the sidelines right at the end, didn't seem to have any issues, but I didn't see AVT Becton had me scared when he went out for a play, was holding his right knee, but got right back in
