If AVT and Becton are our starting tackles going forward with Tippman taking ome of the interior line spots finding two more interior linemen in the next two draft classes is a much easier task than trying to find one starting left tackle. Safety could be our biggest hole going forward considering that Aaron Rodgers wants to come back.
And they refused to use this guy the first couple weeks. Unfathomable. Our team would be so much better if our coaches and GM could just admit their mistakes on personnel moves. Stop using Cook, stop using Cobb, use Ruckert more, use Hardman more, use Izzy more.
cobb has been fine. hardman isn't very good at all. I like ruckert but uzo is the top blocking TE in the NFL currently (according to PFF) and conklin is a good receiver at TE so it's kind of hard for ruckert to steal more snaps. I agree about cook though. i'ts like watching frank gore in the adam gase days
Great pick on tippman so far by JD “Just 1 pressure allowed on 43 pass-blocking snaps for Joe Tippmann in his second NFL start. Over his first two starts, he's allowed 1 pressure on 85 pass-blocking snaps. Giving him the second-lowest pressure rate among all NFL guards over the past two weeks (1.2%)“ https://x.com/Michael_Nania/status/1708971437308989921?s=20
https://x.com/sethwalder/status/1709202868358480238?s=46 A positive for the Jets: their pass block win rate has improved each week. Week 1: 30% Week 2: 35% Week 3: 50% Week 4: 68% (League average in 2023 is 56%)
Joe Tippman has been a huge addition to the OL. He is playing like a top 5 RG according to the stats (small sample size). AVT is obviously a nice RT, elite OG, so that has helped. I'd be curious if they try and draft a LT and bounce Lanken eventually but his cap hit is high. OL looked great it's just AVT is not a natural RT so hope he stays healty (short arms) think he hurt his tricep. But honestly, with how quick DE's are, someone with his quickness (lacks arm length) may actually be a plus at RT.
A lot of flexibility to improve the line next year. Its kind of the benefit to JD's philosophy of drafting flexibility. They can draft the best OT, move AVT to RG and Tippman to C. They can draft the best OG, keep AVT at RT and Tippman to C They can draft the best C, keep Tippman at RG and keep AVT at RT, Tomlinson has been much better since the OL shift as well.
It looks like full Oline gelling is in effect. Between that and Zach zipping the ball out in 2 seconds we should be okay. The Jets line is like Fort Knox compared to the Giants. Daniel Jones was sacked 9 times last night and ran around like a frightened squirrel. It made Sunday's game against the Chiefs a ton more reassuring.
He needs to make it though the rest of the season and play at least average. If he does, he will have a ton of suitors. LT's with his size and ability don't grow on trees. If he does make it through the season I don't see the Jets resigning him unless they franchise him.
and remember they in the past 5 years, signed a top FA LT to a big contract, drafted 2 OTs in the top 7, drafted a C in the 2nd, and have drafted the most lineman of any team in the NFL in the top 3 rounds in that span. and they are still awful.
