The biggest problem is he hasn't put together a team and coaching staff that wins more games than it loses. A "very solid roster," properly coached, would not be a topic of discussion. today.

    Nothing to do with age?

Brady was 31, Bridgewater 24, Griffin 23, Wentz 24. You asked - none were almost forty. But those were ACLs, not achilles tears.

"Age — people over the age of 40 are at a higher risk of suffering from an ACL injury because the ACL weakens with age."
ACL Injury | Orthopedics | Mercy Health

" Achilles tendon ruptures have become increasingly common in recent years, and are seen particularly often as a sports-related injury. It is most common in men in their 40s and 50s due to the wear and tear on the tendon that occurs naturally with age. As we age, blood flow to the Achilles tendon decreases and stiffness increases, thereby raising the risk of injury."
Why Are Achilles Tendon Ruptures More Likely With Age? (michiganfoot.com)

0 for two. These are things a General Manager should be familiar with, even if you are not.

"Carr threw to his receivers during the portion of practice open to the media and participated in 11-on-11 work, according to Saints coach Dennis Allen. It was the most he'd participated all week after injuring his shoulder in the Saints' game against the Green Bay Packers last week.

Carr is officially questionable to play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday and will be evaluated again Saturday"

Drafting Zach Wilson will be the shit stain on his record. No amount of coddling or ARod mentoring will change that. At least the 49'ers had the good sense to own the fck up and correct it via release. Not JD though..

Drafted one of the worst QB’s in the modern era.

Failed to build the monster OL we were promised.

    Mediocre drafts.

    Mediocre/Bad HC and staff.

Far as I can tell he made no attempt to find a legitimate backup QB in the off-season.

Sticking with Zach Wilson is unforgivable regardless of whether or not some QB eventually comes here and has success this season.

    —————

I was a believer at first. He was preaching about the things I wanted to hear. I understood that he had to tear down the house that McGase built and that it would take time.

He’s built a strong defense that could be dominant if they ever played with a lead, but they never do. That’s not solely on him, but he brought in another defensive HC who again seems disconnected from what’s happening with the offense, and what’s happening there is embarrassing (again). Yea, he brought in old man Rogers and bent to his every whim, but he didn’t have a backup plan and as a result he’s hamstrung the coaching staff and team with Zach Wilson, one of the worst QB’s of all time.

Ultimately Wilson will be his downfall. A “pit of eternal stench” if you will. He’ll never be able to fully remove the smell short of winning Super Bowls, and that’s not likely to happen here…not this season anyway. Wilson’s what he’ll be remembered for down the road, but it certainly hasn’t been the only problem during his tenure.

In 4 seasons, JDs best record was with a team he didn't build.

The only thing that could salvage JD’s legacy with the Jets is getting Caleb Williams. Even if he’s fired and the next GM drafts him we will thank JD for his terrible management that put us in position to get him.

    "Actions speak louder than words."
JD says all the right things, but many of the moves he's made are questionable. We are exactly where we were when he took over.

JD's tenure is such mixed bag considering the roster he inherited when he arrived. He's a self described " Trenches Guru " and swore to build the OL and DL. He's had SEVERAL bad misses, specifically in Becton and ZW. In fact most of his first draft class was cannon fodder. Swapping 1st rounders this offseason came back to bite him, and since Becton he's yet to draft a difference making OL. Tippman so far looks good, but we are 3 games in. When you draft a guy 12, he needs to play. Should have moved on from Lawson this offseason as soon as that pick was made. They refuse to play Ruckert, a 3rd round pick who happens to be the best TE on the roster. They signed Hardman, who's seen 5 plays, maybe? It's such a roller coaster of 5 years. The roster on paper is far better than what he got, he's done the small things right for the most part and whiffed mightily on the positions that set you apart as a winning organization (QB, LT) in the draft. After signing Rodgers, not having someone that can come in and PLAY and keep you in games and keep the offense on track incase of injury is, in reality, a fileable offense IMO. If you had a competent owner, it would be - something more lacking than ANY F/O you could build.

Like I said - I'm torn - but for this season in particular - he's totally at fault.

Obviously, his tenure has been very, very bad.

He’s been here 5 seasons and we’ve won 2 games in September over that time: the Cleveland miracle last year and the Bills game in week 1.

He mismanaged QB in 2021 by drafting Wilson, starting Wilson and then when he didn’t anticipate Wilson getting injured so he had to panic buy Joe Bloody Flacco.

Then he mismanaged QB in 2022 by being terrified of Mike White.

Then he mismanaged QB in 2023 by not anticipating that our starting QB might get injured. Despite making that same mistake in 2021 and the fact that our starting QB has got injured every year he’s been here. To make things worse, when it happened we didn't even try to get the best possible QB in here: instead we tried to find the worst possible QB that might still be accepted by the fans because God forbid that they make Zach look bad.

We were rubbish when he joined (although Gase’s 7-9 is still his best season) and we’re 1-8 in our last nine games so we're still rubbish.

    Idzik had a better record.

You can tear your achilles when you're twelve - shit happens. That does not make you correct when you say age doesn't matter. Scientific fact, and common sense, show that such injuries happen more as you get older. Your claim was wrong. That can happen even if you mean well, but when facts are shown, to deny them is just plain foolish.

Exactly. Drafting him was bad, but understandable. What will sink him is keeping Wilson. The time to get rid of him was immediately after the season last year. Dump him and take the cap hit, and pay him his guaranteed money. He almost had a revolt in the locker room last year. and they deserve to have one this year after not picking up Simeon the day after the bills game.

All JD had to do at the end of last season was to keep Mike White on the roster.

Mike White would have lead us to a victory against the Patriots and a winning record.

All of JD's many, many sins would have been absolved and we wouldn't be having conversations about firing him and all of our coaches at the end of this season (or sooner).

No, JD can't admit when he made a mistake.

Just keep doubling down on his decisions to draft Wilson and to sign Laken Tomlinson.

Signing Aaron Rodgers looked great on paper but did smell of a desperate attempt for JD to keep his job.

Allen Lazard might be a good signing but Rodger's favorite offensive coordinator and his other buddies we signed haven't done much to help us so far.

After giving up a little too quickly on Sam Darnold, JD also shipped out two young receivers that we drafted in round two that might just pan out for their new teams.

Now we are in the mess that JD has built.

I don’t think there could be a bigger indictment of JD than having a worse record than Idzik.

This is what is known as the injuries don't happen in the NFL school of thought. It is an abysmal failure, as a school of thought, as is St. Joe.

Yes he can, by running backwards toward his own goal line.
