I aggree with this sort of. Last year the draft looked amazing. This year we have such a great roster we can use the 1 on a development player? That has me concerned about his philosophy of roster building. The safety, which was basically the game were the result of JDs first two drafts No. 1 guys. Both whiffed.

Yeah it’s really gotten rather nuts at this point. I don’t know how many times I can post it in two days but it’s crazy no one else is in the building and there’s not even a thought to give Boyle a look.
And that's something I've been thinking about, not AR taking the headset from Hackett, but suggesting plays. The common thread in how Zach's been "developed" on-field is Saleh. The past two seasons, the O has been focused (it seems) on limiting mistakes, rather than scoring, or attacking the opponent's D. Everything has been about preventing Zach from making mistakes. And Zach shows that by not even looking at open receivers, when the pressure's on. It's not an accident that Zach's longest completed pass, including TC, was that pass suggested by AR during TC. I know the OL has been overall, porous, but there are ways to take advantage of a D stacking the box. So far, it's consistently about doing the opposite. Yesterday, the only consistent, in-rhythm drive they had, was when they passed on 1st-down, which did change the D, for that drive. I'm hoping that AR's input, probably within the next week or two, will have the O start to focus more on attacking the D, rather than limiting mistakes. Mistakes happen. You can't win games trying to prevent mistakes, which the Jets have demonstrated over the past 9+ games. So, to me, if Zach is gonna be QB for however long, ya may as well start taking risks, & take advantage of his arm & athletic ability. He didn't throw any INTs yesterday... how did that work out? It's the one thing I haven't seen over the past two seasons, just take the handcuffs off Zach, & see what happens. A loss is a loss, so let him make mistakes, or maybe find some rhythm. There really is nothing to lose. They can't win without scoring, so see what happens letting him attack the D. .
Some of this stuff is just insane. Aaron Rodgers suggesting plays is going to make Zach Wilson better than the 87th best QB in the league?
No, insane was doing what they did yesterday. The coaches' job is to put the team in position to succeed. Instead, they did exactly what BB wanted them to do, & what doesn't work against a stacked box. There was no creativity, no movement... just run into the box on 1st-down, & put extra pressure with 2nd, 3rd-down & long. That, my friend, is insanity. They should've been throwing on 1st-down to start the game, as well as either a no-huddle, or faster pace. Not always wait til they're behind, to start opening things up, which only leads to more mistakes, pressure, losses. .
Well we already tried your let’s wing the ball around with Wilson strategy against the Cowboys and got absolutely shelled. I guess we can try Aaron Rodgers calling the plays. That will surely allow him to hit wide open receivers and check downs in a clean pocket even though he couldn’t do that yesterday.
Nobody has a right to bitch about bad luck when you fail to upgrade your OL and lose your franchise QB. 3 of 5 starters returning from major injury and no quality depth behind them. And on top of that, no solid veteran backup QB as the #2. Even with all the so called "improvement" from Zach, to call him anything more than a project is just absurd.
Watch the All 22, receivers were wide open. If Zach couldn't hit those guys, then no amount of playcalling would make a difference.
You make the assertion that an unsupported figment of your imagination is the truth and we're all supposed to follow your lead? Critical thinking says "NO!"
Ha ha yes the coach or GM has openly said they have a choice to move on or keep Wilson on the field cause that's what a professional person does - dang you are killing it. You don't think at this point, you would hear that other than "he's the starter." While the amazing groundhog day logic 'fans' like you start calling for the firing of coaches every 4 years or so, seems like your only goal is to hurt people: the coaches, the entire f-ing team, except the guy you've got fuzzy feelings for in your nether regions. I am sorry that you spend your time oggling Wilson and he is not him. That must suck for you.
I agree with you. And if Zach is going to be the starter - for now - this is what they have to do. It's the only thing that might work. That said, as others have pointed out - including some of the media analysts who have weighed in - there were plays to be made that Zach either didn't see, or he didn't trust himself to make. Also, regardless of what Hackett may have dialed up as plays, it's clear that Zach has the freedom to audible off them, so why didn't do that? Why didn't he call some passes on first down himself? And if the answer is, he was specifically not given the okay to do that, that begs two other questions: 1. How can the Jets insist they trust Zach to be their starter and yet keep the handcuffs on? 2. Why didn't Zach just go "rogue" and do what he knew he needed to do? What this all boils down to for me is that in any case, Zach isn't the answer. Could he be? Maybe, but a this point I no longer care about what could be. The Jets bear primary responsibility for ruining another young QB, but Zach has a share of the blame too. It's a damn shame because he has tremendous physical talent, and I still believe that if he had gotten the right type of support he could've succeeded, but you can never get back time, it only goes one way, and the two years that he lost working with LaFleur can't be given back to him. Not fair, but life isn't about fairness it's about dealing with the reality you find yourself in. Zach's only hope would be to beat KC and hang a 300+ yard/multi TD game on them, and show that the light finally turned on, but that would be so improbable, it borders on literal impossibility. Bottom line: you either do it or you don't. Zach simply hasn't done it.
Im absolutely amazed that there are a few lost souls who still think there is some sort of magic secret scheme, or magic coaching method that would make Zach Wilson something other than the worst QB of the last decade.
You seem to have a rather bizarre fixation on defending Captain Silver Spoon Woody. The guy is one of the most ineffective owners in all of sports at this point.
Your imagination is working overtime on this today - now you're claiming that I call for coaches to be replaced every four years. That is a lie, not a daydream. Coming out from under your rock every four years to defend the indefensible before disappearing again doesn't allow you to pretend you have any idea what is going on. I'm not in any way looking to "hurt" anyone or anything, I'm looking for adults employed in the entertainment business to do their jobs competently to put the best product out for customers like everyone here. How is it that you believe I, or anyone here, is in a position to hurt anyone? Your last few sentences are not only confused and bizarre, they're downright creepy.
I have no interest in defending Woody Johnson at all, he's been a terrible owner for this team but not for the reasons conjured up out of smoke and vapors by a few here, largely new to the show. Johnson's problems, as I see them after watching this team since they were the Titans, are rooted in his disconnect from the business of professional football and those who run it. His failed history of hiring people to run the football side of the business speaks for itself and indicates he has no one to lean on who actually understands what it takes to be successful on the field. His concern is for marketing his company and he's lousy at it, easily illustrated by the few things that seem to have drawn him out into the light of day - like science fiction inspired uniforms and "has been" and "never was" quarterbacks.
I can't think of a quicker way to lose a game than Zach Wilson going rogue and doing what he wants. That's the opposite of what we want
