This might not seem as far-fetched as most would think - but the Jets are purposely trying to lose. Evidence: Saleh keeps saying Zach is our guy. We ALL know he is not. He's obviously being instructed to do so. Interestingly, Hackett only ran Breece Hall 4 times against the Cowboys who are now being thrashed on the ground by AZ with 180+ yds and counting. Hackett and Jets continues to put Zach in simple drop-back passing situations when everyone knows he's PA rollout, slide-style pocket protection QB. Reasons: Jets FO can finally rid themselves of the Zach Wilson contract with only $11M dead money hit, and no loss to the cap. Higher pick to draft a true LT to protect Rodgers. Becton will be gone too or non-exclusive franchised (unlikely, but possible) Belief is Rodgers will play another 2 years through 2025 and then retire so the void years don't affect our cap. Summary: I believe the Jets org have already called the season – due to the Rodgers injury and already planning for 2024. Saleh and JD will be back one more year and jobs safe. Now of course this could be straight incompetence, but we know better. Saleh has the defense and special teams playing very well. Saleh/Hackett has been told to tank for picks so we can make the Rodgers SB-run again.
Counterpoint... If the Jets were genuinely trying to lose, we'd be 3-0 right now. The Jets are incapable of doing anything correctly, so had they set out to lose, even that plan would have backfired.
This FO and coaching staff aren't good enough to tank correctly. "All gas no breaks"..... latin for "we suck but we're positive"
If your trying to tank be fair to guys like Gw, Sauce, and Breece, and trade them this is not fair to them.
Oh, I hear you. But I give them more credit than that. Running our most explosive offensive player 4 times last week after he had 150 yds+ on the ground is trying to lose, even more than playing Zach Wilson as QB1. Think about it.
I know, but keeping Zach as out QB1 is even more, so something's up. unless there's a trade or major signing - Jets FO have agreed to tank.
Did you not see the 1st game? Kinda hard to look like a capable running back when the opposing team knows your running every 1st and 2nd down and stacking the box don't ya think?
WHAT ARE YOU SMOKING, who are these people who don't understand what a good football looks like and why are they all Jets fans?
Yep. JD saw Sack make that off balance throw at Pro Day and that was all he needed to see. Now we're paying the price for that. TL will be the better Pro QB.
Rick Mirer at this point would be a quantum leap over Wilson. Heck, I'd be more hopeful for next week if we signed 59 year old Vinny Testaverde and threw him out there on Sunday night.
