Robert saleh is now 12-25 as Jets coach Joe douglas is now 20-47 What the fuck does it take to get fired in this stupid organization?
Saleh's presser today was as bad if not worse than Wilson's NE presser last season .. I'm concerned about our HC
I don't think he's an idiot on either of them. Both were hot prospects. We were all pretty excited when Saleh was hired and most of us were happy when we drafted Zach. I'd imagine he saw what everybody else saw in them. Where's he's failed big is that he has not once attempted to get a good veteran QB to back up Wilson, he didn't get anybody to be a contingency for if Rogers went down, and he's spent very little attention on the offensive line.
Only the Jets can bring back the same team, have another draft and get worse, no way we are winning 7 games this season with Zach Wilson.
Yeah Hackett only works if Rodgers is overriding him and making the decisions. He was acquired to appease Rodgers.
Saleh is a fraud motivational speaker, not an NFL head coach. A feel-good guy who excels at winning big and giving praise but can't right the ship or scheme a needed win.
Yeah proof is in the pudding he talked his ass off and got a head coaching job a job he never shown he was qualified for, good speaker, good chearleader, but terrible coach. He is absolutely brain dead when it comes to holding players accountable or scheming for a game.
Saleh's problem is there appears to be virtually no accountability regarding Zach Wilson. Zach actually helped him out with his stupid postgame comments last yea that got himself benched. I've never seen a player make zero progress over three seasons, and yet keep his job (Rodgers' injury not withstanding). Zach has zero value as a QB. As a thought experiment, say Zach Wilson, Tim Boyle, and Mike White enter the coming off-season as free agent QBs. In what order are those three getting signed/taken on by other NFL teams? That answer is all you need to know to appreciate how insane it is that Zach is seemingly immune to benching for poor performance. As Bart Scott said, there are at least 50 players better at his position in this league (starting, backups, and on practice squads), yet, not only does he still have a roster spot - he's starting! Again, this is on Saleh and Douglas. The kid gloves haven't provided any dividends. All they have to show for it is loss after loss due to inept QB play, and another looming locker room mutiny precipitated by the very same QB two seasons in a row.
Fans may have been hopeful about Saleh but there was a significant amount of disappointment that he was yet another coach from the defensive side of the ball, and their fears have been justified considering his inability to field a competent offense. And there was as much draft trepidation about the strong armed but only modestly successful QB with one decent college season against modest competition as there were pundits who loved the strong armed QB who tore up his one season and can make throws in shorts during heavily scripted workouts. The fact that JD saw him as the latter should be concerning. Most hyped QB prospects are busts; that he was hyped is not a defense to drafting him. Competent GM’s don’t get caught up in the hype, especially when there is such limited work to evaluate him by.
Lots of folks in this thread going off on Saleh and JD without mentioning how they had anything to do with this loss, they were in position to win except for the QB. The owner is making the team keep him as QB1 and as the only QB really if you use your brain cells. A competent backup QB would have won the game today for the Jets. There is zero reason to fire anyone except the QB. Give an example where coaching went wrong today.
Zach aside, my main concern for this season, even with AR was Saleh. Great PR guy, face of the team, & all that, but as HC... nah. All off-season, everything was about QB... all the Jets needed to be SB contenders, & so many fans bought it. Last season, the D was good, but couldn't create turnovers, make 3rd-down stops until FG-range, & not great against the run. Pretty much the same this season. Saleh's a scheme guy, just like his former OC. Creativity, adjustments, & in-game football instincts aren't in his cliche cache. But by far his biggest negative is how he handles the team. Last season, he let the team divide over Zach, publicly. There was the T-shirt thing, & he had players on O wanting out, &/or having hissy fits on the field. And did nothing. Today, we saw the same thing on-field. Players always making stupid comments on social media, then deleting them. In all my years, I've never seen a team with so little discipline. That's all on Saleh. While everyone was going on & on about AR, the SB, etc, this off-season, I've been on the opposite end of the spectrum, questioning if they could ever win with Saleh. I gave him credit for how he handled the Bills game, after AR went down. But since, it's the same old thing. Unfortunately, with AR's injury, that probably bought Saleh another year. And me, aside from all the problems on the team, I'm nauseous that the talent on the team is being wasted, with a clueless CS that's unable to think beyond their schematics, to actually gameplan against opponents... & utilize the assets at their disposal. I feel bad for all those that bought into all the SB, AR as savior, etc BS, only to have reality shoot it to smithereens so quickly. This team has some playoff-caliber talent, but unfortunately, have an over-matched CS, that hasn't a clue how to utilize that talent. Football is the one sport where coaching is huge, & this CS is a failure. .
Come on, they are humans too - if you do all you can for your team to win and the your coach just let one player ruin all your effort - wouldnt you be mad? I hope this team calls this coaching staff and wilson out every day from now on
