Sounds like a typical Jets game to me. As bad as Brown has been, I can't see any of the other alternatives being worse. This is a guy who has shown nothing to prove that he should be starting this year, so I can't really find myself being any more worried than I already was about the O-line's prospects for this game. Instead of Brown, it'll be someone else throwing lookout blocks for Wilson and, potentially, prematurely ushering in the Tim Boyle era.
Starting Brown at all was an indiciment of this CS inepititude. There is no reason not to play MB at LT and start tip... none.
It's maddening at this point. We as fans can see that Becton Is clearly the best tackle on this team and the best option to play at LT. The kid wants to play at LT, if all makes so much sense. Yet. This coaching staff. Specifically, Saleh. Wants to throw out some bullshit about how irresponsible It would be to move Becton to LT at this point. Why can't they see the obvious here? By far. The dumbest shit I've heard come out of his mouth thus far. I have no faith that they are going to get this OL situation figured out.
Lmao now Brown is on IR. We went from expected to play to IR in 2 days. God I hate this franchise, they're just insanely dumb. Granted, this is a good thing given how bad Brown has been, but still.
The thing is, Becton has sucked too. Brown has been worse, sure, but we're comparing a bottom 5 OT to a bottom 10 one here. JD refuses to admit when he's wrong. We should've had a replacement for Becton lined up 2 years ago and one for Brown lined up 1 year ago.
I'd like to think Becton would be an improvement over Brown at LT, but in all honesty, the guy who has played best at Left Tackle (and noticeably so) albeit for a few games before being cut short by injury, is AVT.
This really sounds like “we know everyone we hear is right, but we refuse to do anything that wasn’t our idea”
Remember when people clowned me for taking issue with the AVT pick instead of sitting pat and taking two OL? AVT's been just ok this year. Can you honestly tell me you wouldn't trade a slight downgrade at guard for an upgrade at one of our tackle spots right now? Offensive line is more about having no glaring weaknesses than having a stud at one spot and garbage everywhere else.
Ruckert needs to play and help Zach's blindside. Lot's of screens and passes to the backs after they chip a DE on their way to the flat. If our defense is as good as they think they are, Deadleg Mac can't beat us again.
It's odd that all of a sudden Mechi Becton is regarded as our best tackle when for the last year he's been called a bust, lazy, and fat in this forum. I'm not saying you guys said this but the fact that people are advocating for him now is ironic.
Yep, Brown goes on IR. A right move I called for in this thread, though unfortunately two games too late. However, instead of getting another tackle off someone else's squad who actually did decent in preseason and getting La'el they are promoting some LB named Sam to active roster. WTF, come on JD.
Meh. He's playing out of position against his will. I've seen far more from Becton so far than anyone else at tackle. Far more. I think he's by far and away our best option at the moment and I don't think he's sucked this year at all. He's had a couple of bad reps, sure. This entire OL has though. Including AVT.
Not really. He's primarily been hated on because of his injury history, lazy demeanor, and weight issues. When he's actually been on the field. He showed a lot of good things. I don't think It's ironic at all. It would be borderline delusional to suggest Billy Turner or Max Mitchell are the best options at LT right now.
