“He's been practicing a certain way this entire week, so to move him in the last second would be irresponsible." just for this week. Not the future. I should have clarified sorry
Oh my good Lord, please tell me it isn’t so. So playing Brown there is a responsible move? They had all week to start the transition…..hope something happens so. This entire team and the fan base deserves better than the product this OL has put forth. I watched SF superior OL coverage and even the Giants in defeat yesterday and wonder when will be at least in that ball park.
The only thing I've seen/heard is how Saleh spoke glowingly how Brown didn't have to play injured last season as his contract was guaranteed, but he did. Based on that and I guess Brown's career previously, Saleh thinks he owes Brown something or deserves special treatment that Becton didn't deserve. It just shows what a phony Saleh is and he is too influenced by his feelings towards players.
No you’re right, he absolutely wouldn’t have helped us at all! Nope, let’s just keep running what DOESN’T work out there and hope something clicks… “Risner, 27, started 62 of 66 possible games at Left Guard during his time with the Broncos. According to PFF, he’s allowed 10 sacks on 2,304 pass-blocking snaps. On ESPN he had 10th-best run-block win rate (74%) among NFL guards in 2022.” Nope, he would definitely not help out…
Tomlinson and McGovern have been terrible. Risner has only really played guard in the pro’s but he played both center and tackle in college. I guess I just don’t really get the organizations desire to stand pat at backup QB and offensive line. It also made no sense to carry 9 offensive lineman rather than ten with the weakness of the unit. Billy Turner was also really only signed as an emotional support animal for Rodgers so that weakened the depth even more.
You can feel It happening.. Saleh Is losing this fanbase with some very irresponsible decisions right now. Talk about Irony. This week might be the beginning of the end If he doesn't pull his head out of his own ass and find some urgency with this team.
at pick 12 (we were picking 14) they asked for a top 3 left on the board and WMD was 1 on their board at that time. i forgot who the other 2 were. I don't think jones was there, a TE was 3rd
we have AVT a former 1st who looked like a pro bowler last year until the injury and tomlinson who we signed as the top FA lineman last off season who was a pro bowler and 4 year starter without missing a game for one of the top o-lines in the NFL (49ers) so how would risner help as a guy who nobody wanted to sign all off season? our issue is the OTs mostly and them not gelling right now and tomlinson playing worse then expected
Tomlinson played between two Hall of Fame lineman in the only year he’s ever been a Pro Bowler. Before they got there he also played next to borderline HOF tackle Joe Staley and member of the all-2010 team. The Jets paid him as a top offensive lineman, but that doesn’t mean it was ever true.
So how about we bench Brown, kick Becton back to the left side, slide AVT to RT, and put Risner at RG? A creative GM can pull it off. Or to keep it simple, how about we bench the overpaid free agent LG and sign and play Risner there? Should we not at least try and improve our situation?
Those are worthwhile suggestions...if Saleh & Co were entertaining any, but they aren't. They're holding to the line that the OL just needs some more time to "gel". But by the time it "gels" the "meal" will be over, and the dishes will be cleared from the table.
I’m going to lose my fucking mind if our offensive backfield gets raided again and we don’t make any changes. I wouldn’t even wait another week, but I’ll give them one more week. By week four it’s absolutely inexcusable to not make a change.
Risner signed with the Vikings 4 days ago. Connor Rodgers was screaming for Risner since training camp. It's crazy they are rolling with Laken and CMG. Tippman needs to get on the field. He's super athletic and would be perfect for our screen game + getting Breece outside the tackles. His floor can't be any lower than the shit we have seen from CMG the first two weeks.
To your point. What gets me more than anything is that Saleh is still all giddy about the fact, even though he hasn’t practiced, Brown might be good to go. As if his performance the first 2 games is irrelevant, and as if he is still the great vet he was last year instead of the big part of the problem. As you know I have been a big supporter of both the HC and JD, but their insistence in not making changes at this junction makes me feel they are not really seeing the big problem we have created with this offensive line. This situation is embarrassing and far more over reaching than replacing Zach and move on. Far from it. If BB embarrasses the Jets Sunday their career lifespan with this team will be severely curtailed.Too much talent on this team is simply going to waste.
maybe/maybe not and yeah he had the benefit of playing next to great players but still he performed well grading out high by PFF and didn't miss a game 4 years straight and was easily the top free agent lineman of that FA class
that sounds really dumb. This is real life not madden where everyone is interchangeable. unless you actually practice at swing tackle it's really hard to go back and forth between RT and LT. becton spent all offseason as a RT and is still getting settled in. moving him to LT would be rough on him. AVT was just average at RT and got hurt playing it last year. he's better off at guard where he was playing at a pro bowl level prior to the injury. Risner would be worse then any of our starters. IDK why you think he is good. he would be twice as bad as brown.
He was higher rated than 5x Pro Bowler/1x All-Pro Brandon Scherff and 4x Pro Bowler Terron Armstead? I know you’re a big PFF guy. James Daniels was six years younger with a PFF rating of only 4 points lower than Tomlinson playing on one of the worst lines in football in 2021. Meh, La’el Collins as a stand-alone player was better than Tomlinson. If you wanna play the PFF game he was 6 points higher than Tomlinson in 2021.
i'm not a big PFF guy so not sure where that comes from i take it with a grain of salt. I'm more of a watch for myself guy. I watch a lot of teams/games but can't see them all and o-line is hard to judge without all 22 film and keying in on them. I didn't want schreff because you are ignoring some huge factors as you usually do. 1st off schreff hadn't played a full season since 2016. he missed 23 games in the 5 years leading up to his free agency. he was also 31 as a free agent and was overpaid by jax like they did to alot of players. schreff was bad last year (although he did play all 17 games) and has been bad this year (and was also carted off the field week 1 3rd quarter but played week 2) he isn't helping us right now. armstead is an OT. that year in FA we needed an OG more then an OT. fant was coming off a career year from 2021 and still under contract for 2022 so we chose to keep him over moses who also had a great season for us but was a FA and wanted to start. we also had becton slated to start. the weak link was RG in 2021 not OT. adding armstead wouldn't have made sense. we could have kept moses cheaper and not bet on becton which in hindsight would have been wiser and sure we could use armstead now, at the time it didn't make sense. Daniels I didn't know anything about at the time. but I do know what he's done since joining the steelers and he's awful. even worse then tomlinsons been for us. the steelers are the only team with an o-line as bad as ours and they signed a top FA guard this off seasons. "jumped us' for broderick jones, and singed daniels in 2022 and their line also blows so clearly none of these options would help. uninformed fans just throw random names out they've never watched play and assume they will be better then what we have and that isn't always the case, actually rarely is the case
You said he was the top offensive lineman in the class. Not the top guard. And Scherff was rated higher by any metric that’s not your own opinion. Regardless, Tomlinson’s been terrible as a Jet so it doesn’t make your analysis of how bad all these other guys any better. By the way, I think myself along with a lot of others with your stupid fucking comments about how you know so much more about football than them when you debate. Especially when things are pretty open to interpretation. You’ve been doing this forever too.
fair I did say that, I should have specified top option for our needs. I figured most would understand it's implied because why sign something you don't need? I guess for some I need to be really specific. schreff was not rated higher due to his baggage. injury issues and age lowered his value to most teams. a 31 year old who hasn't played a full season in 5 years vs a 28 year old who hasn't missed a game in 4 years and both coming off pro bowl years. any GM worth a damn had tomlinson valued higher because of that tomlinson has been awful yes, so has schreff and daniels. all that means is no matter what JD tried to do, we were going to be fucked regardless because nobody good was even out there By the way, most posters as well as me think your an ass to people for no reason and you have a stick up your butt and a complex from being bullied IRL too much but you know don't let that change you I can't help it if some people just want to vent nonsense on a forum with no idea what they are saying. Some people here know their shit, some don't. not my fault for pointing it out. If people were more open to learning more maybe it wouldn't be that way. but most prefer to be ignorant. tis life
