The McDonald 1st round pick was ridiculous. The only place the jets did NOT need help was edge rusher. Top 15 pick inactive for game 2 of season.
Move Becton back to left tackle and release Brown now. Brown is currently the 68th ranked OT in the league (out of 68).
I don't buy this post-narrative about not liking Brod Jones--McDonald was a panic pick from all I can tell. Why not Jaxon I have no idea. Douglas has made some nice moves--he's average. But this season he showed he is not better than average and we should move on.
lol no they didn't. they signed a 28 year old guard who was a 4 year starter and they let walk and nobody signed him all offseason. he hasn't been good at all plus it's not the position we need so again where are all these lineman falling off trees to help us that JD refuses to sign?
a video literally game out before the broderick pick and the jets had WMD as their top choice i forgot who the 2nd choice was (wasn't jones) and the 3rd choice was kincaid IIRC or one of the tight ends. jones hasn't been able to beat out a journeyman OT on a line as bad as ours
probably because you have to account or cap rammifications and the opportunity cost of what moses would have cost and I don't feel like going back to calculate that. not everyone makes asinine comments off the top of their head with no rhyme or reason
he's starting for houston at RT and hasn't been good. thats why he only signed a 1 year 3 mil contract. no other team wanted him or made an offer. if 31 teams don't want a guy how can you blame JD for not wanting him
Ya--I saw that video--the one where he says pitt jumped us for Jones--I didn't think it was a clear-cut as you presume but perhaps you got more info than I. Kincaid or Mayer would have been ridiculous given our roster and commitments.
Can someone explain the infatuation that Saleh has for Duane Brown? Dude hasn't practiced all week, yet, he will be given the starting job on Sunday against Judon regardless. DB had been the worst OL through two games. By far. Is way past his prime along that line. Is dealing with multiple injuries. AGAIN. If anyone needed practice. It's him. Yet, he's banged up and declining fast. It's absolutely baffling to me. I don't get it. If It was anyone else, we'd get some bullshit about how It wouldn't be fair to put whoever In because they couldn't practice through the week. Blah, blah, blah.. .. but DB gets a hall pass every time. Bananas.
I don't understand it either. A big issue is Brown can't play any other OL position. If he could they should at the very least swap him with Becton. Becton is the best LT on the team and he certainly has the highest ceiling. But Brown can only play one position. I'd sit Brown and move Becton to LT. From there you can do a bunch of different things to fill in the RT position. I doubt any fill in would be great, but I'd rather have improved play at LT.
Was wondering the same thing myself. Starting to think that Saleh has some undisclosed reason why he keeps talking up and playing both Duane Brown AND Zach Wilson. They both stink.
All the what ifs, coulda shoulda done with the first pick, blah blah won’t help at all improve for Sunday. If we wanted an immediate upgrade this year and a starter at tackle the draft was not the place to get that done. What remained when our pick was called would not have sufficed. Good for JD for sticking with his ranking. However, I am critical of JD for putting so much faith on Brown and Becton and not going after a big trade. But here we are. My big pressing question and concern is who is starting Sunday? Is Becton moving to LT, or Turner. What are we doing to improve arguably the biggest weakness on this team with what we have till we figure out something else. Brown is done. People are hyper ventilating over getting a scrub back up QB currently sitting at home because of many failures but no one seems to have the same level of concern to improve the biggest weakness which is fixing the line now. Without it, it means zippo who we put behind center. AR showed us that with three snaps, my be four. We ain’t opening holes and we ain’t protecting the QB. What ever happened to coach Saleh keeping the main thing the main thing?
