Adam Schefter on X: "Breaking: Chicago Bears HC Matt Eberflus has resigned, per ESPN sources. His resignation comes in the midst of a scandal involving multiple Bears staff members, including DC Alan Williams. https://t.co/oFTROE000Y" / X (twitter.com) Some huge scandal going on in Chicago. The Bears DC had his house raided.
Halas Hall Reportedly Raided in Connection with Alan Williams' Absence from Bears (bleachernation.com)
This is a crazy story with a lot of smoke obfuscating the actual fire. I read DC Alan Williams resigned for "to address his health", and that Coach Eberflus was in tears. The flip-side is that Charles Tillman, who used to play for the Bears, is an FBI Agent and "allegedly" told Eberflus that Williams' house was raided, sensitive content was found, and that Williams will most likely not coach for any NFL team for the rest of his life. I'd rather it be just about anything than CP, but other than gambling, what else would it be? Your house doesn't get raided by the FBI most times unless it's the first one. Developing story.
Ha, update (sort of) Now it's being stated there was no raid at all, Williams left strictly for health reasons and that's it. I don't believe most of the stuff I read anymore but sometimes I still bite. The problem is that there's no such thing as journalism anymore yet we get lambasted for citing false information that's difficult to vet or control. Again, developing story. Somewhere between fact and fiction lies the truth. <== That's the best Word Play ever.
Weird story. I thought Matt Nagy was a decent head coach that made chicken salad out of shit with the offense he was give. Made the playoffs 2/4 years. The Eberflus hire didn’t make a lot of sense if they were going to dismantle his defense and trade away the best player. They have a chance to have a franchise changing draft next year with maybe two top 5 picks.
But as we all know, missing on a very highly-drafted QB can set a team back for years. Maybe they won't do it twice in a row, however.
Missing on a QB sets poorly run franchises back, but it’s something you do over and over until you hit one. Otherwise SB aspirations are nothing more than aspirations. Mediocrity at QB does not win in this league anymore. Ending up in the realm of paying guys like Carr/Cousins/D Jones/Tannehill/M Jones/Geno Smith/Mayfield long term will leave you In constant purgatory. Certainly better than hell, but frustratingly stagnant.
Now Fields is calling out the coaching staff....then having another press conference to say he was taken out of context. Bears having a rough start this year
