These two are completely washed. Cook looks like he’s running in cement shoes. Can we please bench these guys? Randall Cobb cannot be our primary slot WR.
The Jets management may not be perfect, but they aren't morons. I'm sure they are digesting what happened, probably know what went wrong a lot better than you or I do, and are going to make a few adjustments. Our season stepped on a landmine with Rodgers injury. Its not going to be silky smooth the rest of the way, you can't bench everybody all at once, and patience is going to be needed while they get plan B implemented on the fly.
I disagree with Cook but am on the same page with Cobb. The minute Rodgers went down Cobb was useless. He was here only to get the non-GB receivers up to speed with Rodgers cadence, way of doing business etc... Cobb "should" be inactive the rest of the way. Unfortunately, thanks to being on the 53 week one his salary is locked in. Keep him on the no-dress list unless we need him. I say get Gipson and Hardman more touches. It's clear that Wilson is going to draw all the attention which should open it up for the other WR's.
It's almost as if signing aging RBs has been a braindead move for 10+ years at this point. Guess we never got the memo.
Why would anyone hire a loser like Nate Hackett given his track record beyond Rodgers to run the offense? Especially knowing the history of Hacketts as Jet OC's? Why would any FO NOT protect their most prized posession but instead, depend on an aging, oft injured OT? Why draft another Edge guy when you have so many you can't find enough playing time for all of them? Sorry Pep, but so far, this FO/CS are indeed doing their jobs like prototype morons.
Things didn't go well yesterday and aren't looking right this second for sure. To focus on the edge part though a few years ago I was pounding the table for the Jets to get Sam Darnold some help. I would have taken Jonah Williams in that draft instead of Q. And it would have looked like the right decision for at least a little while. But how would that look now? Sometimes you gotta give these decisions a little time. There will likely (hopefully) be a time down the road where we're all pretty happy Wil McDonald is on the team.
