I know we are 1-1, and lots of football to play. I'm just curious on what Woody would do in the event the team finishes with 5 or 6 wins this year. Isn't Rodgers tied to Hacket? Would Rodgers even come back if Saleh and the staff were fired? Basically, the staff gets a free pass this year no matter what, as long as Roger's is coming back? I'm thinking way too far ahead I know, but this scenario very well could play out.
Yes ofcourse Rodgers would come back if the Jets fired someone who is 12-24 lifetime and hired someone who has been a proven winner in this league. Listen players are constantly calling out the staff and demanding to get traded, that is a fireable offense alone. Good coaches keep shit inhouse. Just proves Robert Saleh is a cheerleader not a coach.
Unfortunately I think the whole staff will get a pass. They'll convince themselves that everything would have been different with Rogers. It would be better, yes, but there are still glaring deficiencies.
The worst thing I can imagine is amping it up for a 40 yr old qb coming off a major injury Odds are that it is not going to go well. Lazard probably hates Rodgers right now.
I think it all depends on how bad this thing gets. If they are 7-10 again against a tough schedule they probably survive. If they really tank and go 4-13 or 5-12 I think that gets people fired. Rodgers shouldn’t impact Woodys decision making here. He’s a non-entity at this point. His role is a bridge QB/mentor to the next QB they draft. If he doesn’t like that he can retire.
Starting to look the entire Jet fanbase was punked and grifted with this whole Aaron Rodgers fiasco. Jets even went out and brought in players for the guy, and they too have been no shows up to now. Did AR get the Favre '08 script during the off season and decide to sit out instead? Wouldn't be surprising considering how decrepit this OL is.
Of course need an excuse to raise ticket prices right? Can’t justify raising ticket prices if you constantly put an inferior product on the field for the 15th year in a row. While the woodys are incompetent owners they are marketing geniuses. Time and time they figure out how to grift us fans out of more money.
This. This is the biggest misfortune of the Rodgers injury... this team wasn't SB bound with Rodgers, it would have been lucky to make the playoffs. But the loss of Rodgers I fear will mask the incompetence of the FO and CS. This year's failure will be blamed on the injury not the coaching and negligent roster build.
As Aaron Rodgers nears return they’ll start amping up the hype again. They’ll draft more DL, and maybe a WR or RB. By opening day 2024 hype will be off the charts again… until Rodgers does his ACL running for his life behind the leaky OL. Rinse and repeat.
they will get a pass by playing the "if only" card and ignoring the fact that the team without Rodgers is exactly as they have built it!
It will be interesting to see, but JD convinced Woody to spend a shit ton on Rodgers claiming they were only a QB away when reality is our OL is total trash except for AVT.
The plan to win it all was heavily based on Rodgers and a good defense. If Woody believed in that plan then it's still there for them as it hasn't been tested and disproven. As we're not forced into a rebuild by being massively over the cap then the only reason to clear out the GM and Coaches would be if we had another plan. So unless we suck so bad that we actually pick up one of the top 2 QB prospects then it'll be a case of one more year before we fire JD & Co.
