I don't have it in me to go pull all the posts from the preseason gameday threads. You know they're there.
They HAVE to do something, and quickly. I know they looking, so they must realize this right? Please tell me they do realize this. I swear if they bring in Flacco to ensure no competition once again…
He did what was needed to secure playoff wins. And last one was literally just this January, I actually watched the game. With our team a game manager not fucking up might be useful and even necessary. He’s shown he’s capable of this. He also has a ton of starting experience, overall NFL experience, familiarity with Hackett, and decent size for the position. And you are comparing him to a practice squad player with zero experience? Make that make sense, coz you hanging your hat on nothing at all. As far as retirement, it was this February bro, people are bringing up guys that haven’t played in years. Throw out some other names as options, coz we both know Boyle ain’t it, and most likely Zach won’t be either. Have to have some option as to not repeat 2022.
This is not a simple snap your fingers and get it done JD. What we do need is the best available QB that can play within our current system with some tailoring to his strengths. What we don’t need is someone that will not challenge Zach. What we can not afford is some big ticket QB on a one year rental. Forget the Stafford pipe dream What won’t work well is an inmoble QB behind this suspect line We are all in for a playoff run like it or not, and without another QB we are toast Beggars can’t be choosers….Foles, Henne, Winston, and even Bridgewater should be in play. Minshew is the long shot.
It’s pretty easy to snap your fingers and get a guy like Foles, Wentz or Driskel in here. This can’t be a prolonged search. They’ll need a month before they’re game ready with the playbook. Teams do it all the time when they need to call up a QB.
The only rational thing I can think of is that they're waiting to see how Zach does against Dallas to decide whether they'll bring in a backup like Foles or a potential replacement like Matt Ryan. But you know as well as I do the real reason is that when Douglas falls in love with a player (i.e. Zach), it's almost impossible to strip the blinders off him.
I agree and unfortunately those are about the options at this point. Just get one that could potentially provide a spark if called upon, or bare minimum manage games well. Minshew might be my preference of them, but why would Indy trade him? Foles is interesting option also. Only thing I’d disagree with, this has to be a snap your fingers and get it done asap situation, or this player won’t be of much value as time goes on.
I fear you might be right, but I’m truly hoping that’s not the case. They have to identify the best possible option right now and go after them. This is a good team outside of QB and OL.
they are talking to someone, or some team (trade), without a doubt. It’s a short week, whoever they acquire would be inactive anyway. So there’s no direct hurry this week Hackett’s playbook ain’t that complicated. He runs a 1980s offense and it’s his 5th stop callin plays in this league so he’s not unknown or anything. a veteran won’t need a month
If they’re going to make a legit move for someone cousins is probably the guy. I don’t think it’s actually going to happen but he’s a FA next year. He’s going to walk so they’ll get a comp pick. Minnesota is going to be 1-6 or 2-5 very soon. I think they end up with Tannenhill, brisset, or minshew
This won't get any traction until a few weeks down the road. Dave Rothenberg on ESPN Radio said he got a text from a source and says there is no chance that Wilson is the QB by the time we play the Giants.
The goal this year isn't to see if ZW can or can't be the guy. We saw that last year. The goal is to make the playoffs and maybe do something special.
