If a team competing for a superbowl has their RB go down with an injury I would look to trade Cook. It was great to have him for insurance in case Breece was not ready to go, but he looked great. Even if he is not ready we have 2 other running backs that can handle the load. If Joe Douglas can work some of that trade magic like he often does then I would get what i could for Cook. The Panthers traded RB Christian McCaffrey to the San Francisco 49ers for 2023 second, third, and fourth-round picks and 2024 fifth round pick. Even if we can only get a 2nd round pick that means we got Rodgers for close to nothing.

LOL. You’d get a conditional late round pick for him. Cook has no trade value at this point. Any team could have signed him five weeks ago.

Why in the hell would we trade cook when we are a running team?

You make no sense...Niners traded for Christian before Purdy became a thing. Also Panthers were out of it.

We literally lost our star QB and will lean a ton on running and you want to trade a key offensive weapon that will help us?
We also just won week 1

    Cmon man

Credit for thinking boldly, but now is not the time to remove offensive talent from this team, they need all they can get. Besides, as The80sjets noted, any team could've signed him 5 weeks ago so how much could Douglas get for him at this point?

Yes, Breece looked great, but he's at risk for injury, regardless that he's been cleared to play. Having Cook allows them to take some of the load off Breece and let him work back to 100% which he's not at yet.

Trading Cook would be the dumbest thing this team had done since hiring Adam Gase lol

why? What do we need him for? We arent making a run this year and we have a great #1 and 2 other good rb to compliment him

They have 2 other capable guys to take the load off him. I dont think trading Cook hurts our team at all.

so if we didnt have Cook you would have been worried about our running game? Breece is great and Carter is solid and Abanikanda might be even better than Carter.

Because he’s the perfect compliment to Breece who is still not 100% in terms of workload. The return would not be worth his short term value to the team this year.

The Jets are making a run - don’t sell them short……if the rest of the team can stay relatively healthy this team is a tough out.

Teams know their runningback is most likely going to get hurt at some point and account for that with multiple backups. Cook was available all off-season and didn’t look very good in our opener. He’s also recovering from shoulder surgery.

A conditional 7th isn’t really worth it if you even get that.

With our QB situation our rushing attack is a huge priority.

Dalvin Cook is a lock to be a Jet for the rest of the season at a minimum.

So if Rodgers didnt get hurt and Breece got hurt again you think all we would offer some other team that had Cook a 4 time pro bowler is a 7th round pick?

Yeah probably. How many backup runningbacks get traded during the season? Maybe a conditional 6th like James Robinson?

We’re 1-0, with a shit ton of talent. We’re making a run until we officially aren’t

Jesus. It is one thing to be disappointed on AR and have the expectations pulled under us but to give up the season? Cook is a great assess to our ground and pound game. Let’s see where this team heads in the next two months. And try to enjoy these games.
