wilson was bad, it was just disguised. hackett took 0 chances because he didn't trust zach. he barely threw more then 2 yards over the LOS the entire game (and 1 of them was picked off). the offense was gimped. buffalo stacked the box and left garrett wilson 1v1 against a CB who can't cover him and we took 0 advantage of that. that doesn't happen with rodgers or hell even carr or jimmy g. Now I cna't blame wilson for running the plays as called, but him being in clearly gimped out offense because the CS doesn't trust him. people lie, but the film doesn't.

Sorry but looking it strictly as a performance assessment of Allen that doesn’t fly very far. Allen is a excellent QB with a great future but with a propensity to take way too many chances with high risk low percentage throws. Those two interceptions were not variants but ill advised attempts that an elite QB would never take unless is last ditch come from behind. In fact that is his Achilles heal. Further, those unnecessary two throws cost them the game.

Well, I dont expect any quantum leaps from Zach, but lets be fair, until the O-Line shows they can actually create a pocket for a QB, the short stuff is all that will be available. How many times did the pocket hold up enough for anybody to get open downfield or for Zach to go through progressions ????

The run blocking looked solid, but the pass protection..................forget about it.

I saw this on twitter earlier and just wanted to post it here.

There were 3 plays that zach really went full bonehead for me

    1) The terrible pick
    2) There was one throw off a boot where he didn't hit the TE early in the flat which would have been a solid gain
    3) The play where he ran around like a lunatic that I'm going to post now

20 second still frame. Looks like McGovern sneaking out to get downfield + zach looking right at MC and it was swallowed up. Just have to dirt it

You write all of this as fact based but it isn't, it's your interpretation of facts. Big difference.

Of course I wasn't saying that Zach will be the next GOAT. Don't be obtuse. The point is that many things happen "out of the blue" with no precedent.

Tough to get a pass off when your O-line sucks.

No QB is gonna make that play work.

Brady came in off the bench his rookie season.... and went all the way to lifting the Lombardi trophy

This is year 3 for Zach.

    terrible analogy

It was a screen. You are supposed to let some of the rush in. It sucks the LB sniffed that out b/c it would have been a massive play. He just needs to dirt the ball at MC's feet. Not run 30 yards backwards is my gripe.

Sure but the argument is the same regardless.

When a QB consistently leads the league in total TDs, you're a lot more willing to overlook the turnovers. It'd be one thing if Zach was throwing 4 TDs and 2 INTs per game, but he generally throws the picks without an overwhelming number of TDs to make up for them.

Remember that Josh Allen also leads the league in combined rushing+passing TDs in addition to turnovers since the beginning of his career.

The point in either case is that when you have a lot of good, some bad is much easier to stomach.

This is exactly what happened and what should have happened on our end. Milano was lined up perfectly on Carter, it was fucked from jump street. I’m going to assume that Aaron Rodgers audibles out of that play the second he sees the way the defense is lined up.

some of what i said was 100% fact, other parts were my interpretation based on those facts.

    Facts
    1) he barely threw more then 2 yards over the LOS the entire game and 1 of them were picked off.
Proof i just watched all his throws and here is the breakdown
he completed 14 passes of the 14
    a) 5 were behind the LOS
    b) 6 were 5 yards or less from the LOS (including the 4 yard TD that was an awful throw that even zach said himself but garrett bailed him out with an incredible catch)
    c) 3 were legit good throws (3rd and long for 20ish to lazard, 13 yard slant to GW, 15 yard low throw to protect wilson and get 1st and goal)
    of his 7 incompletions
    a) 2 were scramble and throw away which is fine
    b) 3 were 5 yards or less
    c) 2 were 10ish yards and 1 of those was picked off
of his 21 throws (plus his sacks which don't count but could have been a throw) only 5 times did he throw the ball 5 yards past the LOS. less then 25%

    2) we didn't attempt a single pass after getting in FG range at the end of the game.

so based on said facts it's pretty fair to say the CS didn't trust zach. zach didn't trust himself. did you hear the game clips on the sidelines. he had 0 confidence. wilson and lazard kept pumping him up to try and give him some. It is wilsons fault we ran into stacked boxes becuase the CS didn't trust him. there is also this thing called an audible. you think rodgers wouldn't have done it? the exact play rodgers didn in pre-season, the audible and the 1v1 back shoulder fade to wilson was there for zach 3 plays in a row and we ran it 3 times and kicked a FG to take a 3 point lead over a TD lead

the reality is, we won in spite of zach. we won because the D only allowed 16 to an elite QB and caused 4 turnovers. we won because breece averaged like 15 yards a touch. we won becuase garrett made a ridiculous catch on an awful throw for a TD. we won because gipson returned a punt for a TD

it wasn't as bad as people make it. brown was bad, the rest of the o-line was mostly solid. the right slide did pretty well and zach is a right handed QB. he should have slid right more and had plenty of time or stepped up more, he created false pressure by running backwards instead of stepping up. he also doesn't need to go through all the progressions, he was gun shy. there was chances for intermediate shots, he just pulled it down and took the dump off

I cannot fucking believe we have to go another season dissecting every single fart Zach Wilson lets rip. Obviously the worst part of the Aaron Rodgers injury is the fact that fucking Aaron Rodgers is out for the year and our Super Bowl meal ticket is ripped up but having to deal with a fanbases overreaction to everything involving Zach Wilson is a real underrated bummer from this whole thing.

Josh Allen gets the benefit of the doubt because his career body of work suggests that he's a very good QB, and Monday night was an outlier. Zach's career body of work suggests that he's below average even for a backup, let alone a starter. So if he wants to convince me he's good now, he has to go out there and play some legitimately good games, not just games where he doesn't look like Peterman. And to this day, he's never done it. Not even once has he had a game where he's lit up the other team. Darnold, Geno, Sanchez, they were bad but had their flashes. Zach has never even flashed. So yeah I'd like to see the Jets upgrade from him rather than do what they did in 1999 because Zach is Rick Mirer in this scenario.

And the "actual professionals" argument doesn't hold water here; Saleh has to say he believes in Zach regardless of what he really thinks, and after Douglas going on video ripping people for doubting his offensive line (the video is on Twitter), appealing to his authority regarding his quarterback doesn't work anymore.

Agree. I think all this comparisons are ridiculous anyhow. Allen is an established top 5 QB, Zach is in a development mode with raw talent but with a long way to go.

Again, for the close minded...the point is that no one could've - or did - predict that Brady would do what did. No one had ever done anything like that. The odds were that he would've fallen flat on his face and been relegated to the dustbin of failed QBs.

I'm not saying that Zach will do the same, or even close. But it's possible that he overcomes two years of shitty coaching, shitty OL play, mediocre weapons for the most part, and turns things around.

If you don't get that, you're completely, willfully blind by your bias.

So what you acknowledge is that your original assertion that he didn't throw any passes more than 2 yards was wrong.

As to winning because of the D and GW's acrobatic catch and Gipson's amazing KO return, yes, all those things were key, but Zach was in the middle of it all, kept his team focused - as attested to by several players - and didn't make any killer mistakes that enabled them to win a tight game. How is that something to blame him for? SMH.

When your 2 offensive coordinators try to take the ball
Out of your hands every chance they get and the team finally admits they made a mistake and mortgages the future for a
39 year old qb doesn’t that tell you something? Why are people still making excuses for this scrub when people who watch him day in day out and are paid proffesionals and know more about football than any of us are telling you he sucks by their actions. Zack Wilson had a zack Wilson performance against buffalo what shows you he improved? If the jets saw any glimpse of salvation from Zach Wilson last year or any left potential Aaron rodgers would not been here in the first place. Hope and pray all you want but fact of the matter is zack Wilson is a backup qb and not even a good one.
