I am afraid you are correct. I was hoping JD knew something about the OLine we didn't. He knew less. He just doubled down on this a few days ago on Chris Long podcast, praising OLine without Chris even asking him about it. I just can't believe it: you invest so much in old QB, and then fail to protect him like he did all other QBs. Most fans here were proven to know more than JD did when it came to OLine. And the price to pay is unbearable.
The failure to properly rebuild the Jets offensive line continues to be the achilles heel for the team. No pun intended.
do y’all watch football? there were two plays that called for a cut block, which means the ball is supposed to come out quick rodgers held on to the ball way too long and then tried to fight out of the sack instead of just eating it like manning and brady used to do to stay healthy blame the play call, blame rodgers, but you can’t blame the oline for either of the pressures on rodgers
We were assured by JD & Saleh that the OL would be fine by the start of the season, but it sure didn't look fine, and that's not even counting the injury to Rodgers. IDK what they can do at this point, but they'd better do something.
I hope you are joking. Brown fell like an absolute doofus almost immediately (kinda like he did last year in the last play vs Minny. Maybe it was not the shoulder after all but his old age). The pressure was absolutely his fault. Now, should Rodgers have tried to scramble is a different question, but Brown fucked up, there is no doubt about it.
There were numerous opportunities, I mean Josh Jones just got traded for a late pick swap, but for whatever reason JD just can't get it done when it comes to OLine. Year after year, it's the same story.
The fucking guy didn't even have his hands up, he just tried to slap him with his body with zero control. It was inexcusable.
https://x. com/richcimini/status/1701446470308696490?s=46&t=8W_Ho8BJY26CVGWRr9TJSw There was a wide open receiver on an in route but for some reason rodgers didn’t hit him
Perhaps guy running straight at him after Brown immediately fell down like a total putz forced Rodgers to scramble? In retrospect, sure take a hit, but ... I am just mad a JD, because it was evident he wasn't doing enough at the tackle spot, and we have an old QB, who needs to be protected. To me this is a fireable offense, baring a miraculous Zach Wilson turnaround. Which frankly, I do not see happening behind this oline.
exactly! But lots of guys on here are praising Wilson for winning by default of a great team and he did nothing at all as usual lol
Zack is a headcase soon as his confidence is shattered he will be the same old Zack, LEts face it That td pass to Garret wilson should of been picked, Garret wilson not only broke up the interception but somehow caught it, Zack Wilson and Mike White got injured last year because off this incompetent offensive line, and Aaron Rodgers this year, Joe Douglas needs to go if he still didn't figure out how to fix the offensive line and getting our prized offseason aqquistion killed 1st drive. Lets face is Jets aint going nowhere this year with Zack Wilson, the fans who think difference were the ones saying the offensive line would be fine and that we were going to the superbowl. It's a crime to waste this defense and the talents of Breece hall and Garrett Wilson, if Jets Don't make it to the playoffs this year Joe D needs to get canned. People put all the blame on Mike Lafleur last year for Zack Wilson but he sure looked good for the Rams in his debut. And as you can see Hackett does not trust him either.
The LT is not good. Rodgers got injured after being sacked one time. His foot got planted as he was going down. It looks like his foot stuck to the turf. To me it looks like the turf caused the injury. Josh Allen got sacked five times and took a few more hits when he ran with the ball and wasn't injured.
Overall, I don’t think the line is going to be as bad as people think. It had it had its awful moments last night but also did some good things, with Brown hardly playing in training camp and Becton out of position, they will get better. I thought inside played decent, Becton was consistently the worst. I think Buffalo Online looked much worse, any qb not named Allen gets sacked 10 times instead of 5.
When have they ever not looked brutal? The coaches and staff were all goo-goo eyes over Rodgers. But never fully address the horrific offensive line.
The "price" should be the warming of JD's chair as this simply should have been his one and only focus over the last several years. I think he has one more chance to get the OL straightened out or Woody will have to consider making a change. As the saying goes: " You had ONE job to do.."
Didn't even let them play a few snaps in the preseason until the last game. Shortsighted or plain stupid.
Has Rodgers ever been a guy to stand in and take a hit vs. scrambling to throw on the run? Never, which is why people like him (though not me personally). Trying to run out of the pocket was entirely in character for him. To expect him to do something else would be unrealistic.
There are like 5 to 10 OLines in the NFL that are good. The rest are shit. We have a shitty one. The Jets lived in the Bills backfield. Difference is, their QB in a 27 year old athletic freak.
