Fins fans seem to think it's a 3-way race between Chan Gailey, Brian Schottenheimer and Cam Cameron.

They're pointing out that if SD wins tomorrow that the Fins will not be able to hire Cameron within their self-imposed 7 day timeframe. They're also pointing out that if SD loses it appears quite possibile that Marty gets fired and Cameron becomes the new San Diego head coach.

Sounds like it's between Gailey and Schottenheimer, with Gailey being the experienced option who has actually run a team (Georgia) and Schottenheimer being the copycat move to Mangini.

No clue as to who the Fins will pick.

Jeremy Bates was our QB coach in 2005 and went to Denver as an offensive assistant in 2006. He'll be 32 next year and knows both Chad and the Denver system that Mangini likes so much.

I have to think that if Schottenheimer leaves he'll be #1 on our list.

My opinion- Chad probably controlled a lot of what this offense did anyway. I don't think the offense will miss a beat if Schott goes.

I dont think this would be good for us or Brian.
He made quite a few mistakes at OC, but was developing pretty well.
If he made the jump to HC im not sure if he is experienced enough.

I'm not sure I would go with that "not enough experience" line....while it's true he has NO firsthand experience as a HC in the NFL....his fathers been here for 3 decades (if not longer). hes got a wealth of information, and someone who he can talk to about issues that he has come up. i mean, marty should talk to him, he isnt BB afterall. i think the whole inexperience thing is a bad reason, and maybe thats why the Phaggot Phish are still giving him a good hard look.

    EDIT:

If the worse does happen, lets hope they don't do like Herm did and bring in an OC who offense is based on downfield throwing. Shott and Penny are a good pair.

If we loss Shotty and bring in a new OC, Our offense is most likely going to have to learn another new system.

    Not Good.

And the puzzle pieces do not fit. With Capers getting a 3-year extension, i'm pretty much resigned to the fact that Mike Tomlin is out of the running.

To me it's down to Cam Cameron and Brian Schottenheimer. If Cameron's Chargers wins tomorrow, then I would think it'd be Schotty's job if offered...

This really sucks especially because there are not amny good offensive minds on the open market to replace him.
