I’m going with 8-9. I can’t help being optimistic going into the season so it will probably be worse than that, but fuck it. Just the defense alone will win us some games, and our kicking game will no longer lose us games, so there’s hope.
_______ 2023 record: 10-7 ----------- Buffalo - L (0-1) @Dallas - L (0-2) New England W (1-2) Kansas City L (1-3) @Denver L (1-4) Philadelphia L (1-5) @NY Giants W (2-5) LA Chargers W (3-5) @ Las Vegas W (4-5) @ Buffalo L (4-6) Miami W (5-6) Atlanta W (6-6) Houston W (7-6) @Miami L (7-7) Washington W (8-7) @ Cleveland W (9-7) @ New England W (10-7) .
I'm sticking with 10-7, but feel like we could get 13 wins if things go well. But since were still the Jets, I'm sticking with 10-7 until I see otherwise.
The Jets have top ten talent. The bounce of the ball effects close games but injuries can change the whole season. If Mahomes goes down the Chiefs are in trouble and that goes for any top QB. If Rodgers plays a healthy 14 games the Jets are in real good shape.
I picked 11-6 but I can see your logic. Jets probably have one of the strongest rosters in the league right now. I just feel that there are too many new pieces to the equation for it all to gel in one season, especially with the tough part of the schedule up front. And then there is the coaching. Saleh is still a question mark in my mind. Yes, the players like him, but the players liked Edwards too. He could conceivably get outcoached in one or two games because the AFL East has 3 excellent coaches that he has to face twice.
I can understand why Vegas and some of you have your doubts. After all, we have a lot of negative history and things have usually gone south for the Jets, and we've been burned many times before. I think this is a new day, however, and we are about to embark on a new golden era of Jets football. Rodgers has helped our whole team, given them a new energy, a new confidence and is holding them accountable. I believe the team will be more disciplined, play smarter and tougher this season. I am not going to miss out on the fun and excitement of this season with cynicism, fears, doubts and negativity. I could choose to do that, but I've been there, done that, and it's no fun. Everyone has to deal with things as they see fit. I think that some of you are going to let doubts put a damper on the season and spoil your fun, but that's your choice. I hate it for any who are going to do that, but I can understand and respect that choice. I just hope for all of our sakes that I am right and this will be a season to remember and celebrate. One of the main reason I follow the Jets and football is for fun, if I can't have fun and enjoy the season with it being as long as it is, then it's time to walk away. Win or lose, I'm going to enjoy this season and keep my hope alive.
I may very well be one of those you believe are prepped to "miss out on the fun and excitement of this season with cynicism, fears, doubts and negativity" but I assure you such is not the case. While I have never underestimated the number of Jets wins in any season, I also have not overestimated them to the degree that you have and am somehow able to temper all those emotions you believe we all should share with a very large dose of reality before I prepare myself for your "new golden era."
I predicted right around .500 with Rodgers, maybe 1-2 games better if chips fall. WIthout Rodgers, and with the league having a year to scout our defense: looking a lot like 4-6 wins is likely. I was telling someone this evening about 2 hours before the game "i've learned in 42 years to never get my hopes too high...last time the Jets entered a season with this much hype was 1999 and Vinnie tore his achilles in the first game of the season and the Jets season was lost before halftime. It didn't last a full series this year.
Changing one's prediction after the season starts is cheating. The poll should have been locked before the game. @Brook! ?
It's not cheating if you say you changed your vote. And for what it's worth, my original vote was 10-7.
No, certainly not in your case where you made your own declaration. Not everyone has been so, um, honorable in the past. As I said, this and the other similar thread should have been locked before game time. In light of tonight's events a Mulligan thread should probably be opened.
Changed my vote to less than 6 wins. I say 3 for certain maybe 4 IF we get lucky. Last night's win was LUCKY with a capital L U C K Y!!!! Allen throwing 4 picks, Wilson's TD catch that should have never happened. Luck everywhere last night. My guess is the Football Gods decided Rodgers destruction for the season was enough for one day so "let the little green losers have one on us" by letting Wilson catch something he should have never caught.
5-12. Zach will surprise next week and play decently against Dallas but in week 3 Belidick will destroy him again and he’ll be mentally broken for another season. We’ll end up signing 2+ qb’s off the scrap heap and none of them will be much better than Streveler was. We’re finished
