    Sticking with my original prediction

    wk 1 vs Buf - W
    wk 2 @ Dal - L
    wk 3 vs NE - W
    wk 4 vs KC - L
    wk 5 @ Den - W
    wk 6 vs Phi - W
    wk 7 BYE
    wk 8 @ NYG - L
    wk 9 vs LAC - W
    wk 10 @ LVR - W
    wk 11 @ Buff - L
    wk 12 vs Mia - W
    wk 13 vs ATL - W
    wk 14 vs Hou - W
    wk 15 @ Mia - W
    wk 16 vs Was - L
    wk 17 @ Cle - W
    wk 18 @ NE - W

Washington will be a trap game after a big win in Miami. 5-1 against the AFCE. People will be calling for firings after the post-bye loss to NYG (4-3).

    And then I woke up

8-9. No playoffs. OL deficiencies lead to AR missing a stretch of games. Zach ain't the long-term answer, confirmed. Draft a QB to learn under AR. Sorry if I'm the party pooper in the room but we've come in 4th in the division for a billion years in a row so I'm just going on historical trends and keeping my expectations low. Believe me when I tell you I'll be watching and rooting every week, as I have for.... too many years to count.

10-7 good for a WC. Lose to the Bills in the divisional round.

I expect us to start 3-3 and end the season at 10-7

Schedule is really tough. AFC East games will be battles and we play a strong NFC East this year.

The Chiefs and Chargers as well. That is why I say 10-7. I think the Jets will be good this year but not great. Besides nobody should give the Jets the benefit of the doubt, I want to see them prove it on the field with results. That is something they haven't done in a long time.

Also the collapse end of last season concerns me. I wanted to start a new thread to discuss but got lazy. Bad QB play is fine but we couldn’t even win one game in last 7 games. Was it Saleh? Did other teams solved his defensive weaknesses? Don’t know but even with Rodgers I am cautious

We lost 6 in a row because the offense couldn't do anything. Now the run game will be healthy, and improved. Pass game will be better obviously. I don't see much cause for concern.

    We gave up:
    Minnesota (27)
    Buffalo (20)
    Detroit (20)
    Jax (19)
    Seattle (23)
    Miami (11)

I don't really think that's teams figuring out Saleh. The offense was inept. It was like watching a HS football team on that side of the ball. If Rodgers is just Kirk Cousins level good, the Jets are going to win 12 or 13 games because of how good they are on defense. They also will have elite specials this year. He doesn't even have to be 2020/2021 MVP level. The upgrade from going from zach wilson/joe flacco/mike white to Aaron Rodgers is going to be astronomical.

The biggest concern for the Jets offense is can the OL keep Rodgers protected so he can stay healthy. I also don't see Breece being that big of a factor this year. It took Barkley a couple of years to get back to where he was before the injury. The fact that the Jets went out and signed Cook is a sign they want insurance in case Breece needs a year to recover. I expect Cook and Carter to do the heavy lifting running the ball this season.

The biggest concern for every team in the AFCE is their OL, not just the Jets. I also think the Jets OL issues were blown way out of proportion b/c of Hard Knocks + national focus on the Jets. No one wants to talk about how for 3 or 4 weeks 60-80% of the starters weren't playing/practicing. I think it's an issue, but not as big as everyone is making it out to be.

Your other point comparing Barkley to Breece is just wrong. Barkley was 100% ready for the start of the season after his ACL injury. Breece and Barkley had similar injuries. Barkley had to have his surgery delayed a few weeks because he had an MCL sprain that they let go down before they went into repair his ACL. If Breece tore his LCL, MCL, or PCL I would compare his injury to JK Dobbins or Javonte Williams, but he didn't. It was a clean ACL tear. People forget that after his return (which he was 100% ready for), Barkley had a freak high ankle sprain vs Dallas in 5 week where he then missed 4 games. Barkley never got the chance to full get himself fully turned up b/c of the high ankle sprain, but he was absolutely geared up by week 1 ready to go and quite effective in weeks 2-3-4.

EDIT - Just going to add this.

Really good thread on Breece's injury and worth the read. This guy has nailed everything about Hall + recovery since the injury (even the PUP and PUP removal timeframe).

Chart below highlighted in yellow = elite/90th percentile testing of athlete score for RBs who have had knee injuries. To expect nothing from Hall in 2023 is crazy. I expect 10-12 touches week 1 and by week 6/7 I think Hall is dominating this backfield again and back to what we saw last year before the injury.

I hope you are right about Breece, but we shall see. He hasn't played in a long time, so I don't expect him to dominate right away. You are right about the OL's in the division. But Allen can cover up for the Bills OL's weaknesses by scrambling to avoid the rush. 39-year old Rodgers can't. The good thing about Rodgers is he can read a defense as well as anyone in the league and he gets rid of the ball fairly quickly. As for Tua. I hope he can stay healthy as you don't want to see anyone get hurt but I doubt he will stay healthy for 17 games. Mac Jones is meh IMHO. The Bills and Jets are the only teams will franchise QB's in the division. Tua can be good if he stays healthy (BIG IF) but even if he does, he isn't on the level of Allen and Rodgers. But the Dolphins roster is loaded. They will be a factor in this division. I expect a 3-way fight for the division with the Pats coming in last.

Given that our starting tackles are a 38 year old coming off an injury and a guy who's played one game in the last two seasons, it would take a minor miracle for the shitty backups of training camp not to find themselves starting again during the season.

I haven't followed Dallas much so maybe that becomes a win. I'm probably one of the few that doesn't think KC is all that special this year (when Kadarieus Toney is your supposed #1 and there isn't much behind him I don't get them being SB favs) so maybe they pull that one out too if they gel by then. Was could be a L depending on how they develop but I'm not counting on it.

I'm somewhat worried that of the 7 wins we did get they were a fluke against the Browns, A rookie in his first ever start, Skyler, a godawful Russ, an injured Allen and whoever the bears put out there.

The only 'signature' victory was against out current QB and his 8-9 team. In fact the only playoff bound team outside the division we've beaten these last 2 years was the Mike White HOF game.

Aaron Rodgers was also injured if you remember, I know it was lauded as a signature game but he wasn't playing like we've seen him, maybe the injury, maybe not.

I think the Jets are going to be really effective out of the gate, and they'll keep it up as long as 8 is healthy.

I still think the defense will be open in the middle and that's where I see opposing offenses living. I do agree being able to score will make a difference but not if All gas and no breaks also means the defense gives up 50 yards on screen plays, which, will likely lead them to have the exact same record as last year. My final prediction is 9-8 which is two wins more than I predicted last year. Why not. Maybe they beat the Bills on Monday night, and go on a bit of a run.

I guess the benefit of the schedule with Bills, Cowgirls, KC and the Eagles up before the bye is we'll quickly know if we have a Superbowl level team (4-2 or better) or just looking to break the post season drought.

9-8. It's going to take a while to get rolling, this board is going to lose it's collective mind, team finishes strong and grabs a wildcard.

My only prediction is that after the team's first loss posters will blame the coaches and the GM and call for their firing. Enjoy the season gang!
