    Rosenblatt:
Dalvin Cook, Breece Hall, Carl Lawson and Allen Lazard are all practicing today. #Jets getting healthier.

*Great news to see all these guys are ready to go this week. Gives them 2 weeks to prepare for Week 1.*

The only players not practicing today are C/G Wes Schweitzer and TE Kenny Yeboah, per Saleh. Health-wise, the #Jets are in good shape as they prep for Week 1.

Those white face masks look so good. I hate the black face masks and black trim on the numbers of our current unis.

I would just love to go back to the Parcells retro uni’s (before Nike bastardized them with some puke olive green color) and use those…classic, clean, use the Hunter green or a Kelly green I don’t care, either way those look great

I posted earlier today that Miller will not be playing against us in game 1.
Here it is. I copied this tweet from another site.

Well, we won't have to worry about facing Vonn Miller when we play the Bills in week 1.

Buffalo is leaving Von Miller on the Physically Unable to Perform List past Tuesday’s 4 pm ET deadline, which means he is ineligible to be active during the first four games of the season.

With the regular season looming I think it's important we go back through the things that are most important.

The following problems have plagued this team for years. Since as far back as 2009 they've exhibited ALL of these problems regardless of what unit is playing:

    1) Slow starts on offense. When Sanchez was drafted you saw the Jets offense go into this mode where it was normal for the team to take the first 1/3 to 1/2 of every game they played off. It was like they didn't care about complimenting the defense. It didn't matter in 2009 and 2010 as ultimately the Jets won most of those games and had some playoff success. The defense would normally bail the offense out. Well, as time went on, everyone thought it would change and it never did. 14 years and regardless of the QB, defense, offense, HC, etc. EVERYONE has not been able to break that trend.

In this season, that is UNACCEPTABLE. It's been a festering problem for far too long. That MUST change! If the Jets fashion themselves as SB contenders, starting on 9/11, at the start of the very most horrid stretch of games this organization has probably EVER played, they must get the offense going immediately. And honestly, is it logical to think the offense can take the first 20 minutes off and still win the game? Let alone against a team that's won the division the last 3 years in a row? The entire thought is ludicrous. That MUST change and the Jets have ZERO time to spare. The regular season is coming.

    2) Unforced errors - This team always loses the turnover battle. Quite honestly, opponents have a merely "sir back and wait" mentality when they face the Jets. Their game plan to neutralize us has been the same for 14 years now. Stack the box, shut down our running game, then wait until the Jets QB makes a mistake. We'll, the Jets QB has always been more than willing to oblige. Zach, Mike White, Darnold, Flacco, McCown, Fitzpatrick, Geno, Sanchez. Am I missing anyone? ALL of them were prone to making at least one big mistake in a game. Whether it be fumbling or throwing an interceptions, it's the Jets offense that always paves the way for the opponent to win.

    3) The DEFENSE does not generate turnovers. Are you sensing a trend here? The Jets over turnover differential is CRAP. When we were winning last season we had a net plus in the turnover differential. We ultimately finished with a losing record and out turnover differential turned to shit. There's absolutely no good reason why this top notch defense can't make other teams commit more turnovers. But really, are they top notch when they can't generate turnovers? I would say NO. You cannot, or shouldn't be, considered top 5 when your defense doesn't get turnovers.

And in my deep thought I always come back to this as the 3 bullet points as to why the Jets haven't made the playoffs since 2011. If the Jets want to be a division contender, the above things must change.

You realize we were historically unlucky in recovering fumbles right? Takeaways are the one thing that are impossible to predict year to year, but I think it's safe to assume we will come back to the the middle with that and see a positive regression. You already saw last week vs the Giants Sauce tipping back a pass trying to get a pick for Whitehead. I would hope the coaching staff put an emphasis on that this year and with an improved pass rush + maybe playing with the lead we will see a few more strip sacks or INTs when leading.

The good thing about all 3 points you've listed is that a QB of the caliber of Aaron Rodgers can directly impact each of those.

Slow starts, I could see the first few weeks still going that way but I imagine around the BYE week things will start to click for the entire offense and we'll be rolling. It's entirely possible it happens before the BYE too but I think 5-6 weeks for them is reasonable.

Unforced errors, it seems like Rodgers isn't going to let that s*** slide this year. If Hard Knocks/1JD/etc. is any indication, guys that continually mess up just won't be on the field. Also, Rodgers has THE best TD/INT ratio of all-time so hopefully that trend continues for the next couple of years.

Finally, the inability to force turnovers, I think Rodgers will directly impact this too. For the last decade+ teams haven't had to be aggressive with us because they knew the chances of us scoring more than 20ish points was slim, so they could run their conservative gameplan and shoot to get 21-28 points and that would most likely win them the game. Now with Rodgers, I expect our offense to be more effective and productive which could cause opposing offenses to be more aggressive in certain situations which should translate to more TOs.

Again, this is all on paper, so we'll have to see how things go over the next few weeks as we get into the season but everything is lining up for the Jets, it'll be up to them to buck these trends when it matters.

Basham was garbage for them. I checked their boards and they aren't to sad to see him go.

While he is an obvious upgrade over what the Jets had last year he also isn't in his prime anymore. He had 26 TD's and 12 INT's last year which by his standards is a bad year. At 39 going on 40 I don't think he will get better. Last year he had 5 games with less than 200 yards passing and he did not have one 300 yard game passing game. Here are his 2022 game by game stats.

He also had an avulsion fracture in the thumb on his throwing hand which, IMO, impacted those numbers more than his age. That happened on Oct. 6th so he basically played the entire year with that injury.

Last year was the first time he threw more than 8 INTs in a season since 2010, and was only the 3rd time in his career where he's thrown double digit INTs in a season.

Maybe he is washed and not what he used to be but even if he *just* gives us what he gave GB last year, that's still a massive step up from what we've had and is probably good enough for us to make a run.

That's possible but the strength of the Jets is the defense. Any hopes of the winning the division, WC, playoff run will be led by the defense.

Not to mention the lack of a number one receiver on the roster. He was the fricken' league MVP for the two previous seasons! Amazing how negative some Jets fans are.

Great post! Great point in the bold. I think the Jets have also put a premium on DBs who have good ball skills and defensive players who are good at stripping/poking the ball out of the ball carrier's/receiver's hands. They've also worked at that in practice. I think we'll see our D create quite a few more TOs this season.

I agree on your points, but I think things will definitely change. For one thing Rodgers isn't going to tolerate those around him taking the first 20 minutes off. He doesn't throw many interceptions. He has also helped coach the DBs. The Jets have worked on both protecting the QB and taking the ball away, and have looked to add players who had better ball skills and were adept at causing fumbles.

I think the slow starts were a by product of having former defensive coaches as our HC, and not having better coaching, higher standards, and better talent on the team. There hasn't been a sense of accountability and demanding that players got it right since Parcells.

You must not have been a fan back prior to Parcells. The worst stretch of play by the Jets was when Richie Kotite was the HC. It was utter embarrassment every week. There were also horrid stretches back in the '70s with Lou Holtz and Charley Winner.

Unforced errors also includes dumb penalties that shouldn't happen. We've had a number of "players' coaches" who don't hold players accountable. They themselves were undisciplined and as a result, so were their players. Even though he is a players' coach too, I don't think Saleh will accept that, but for certain Rodgers won't accept it.

Maybe my memory is faulty and I've just forgotten, but I don't remember the Jets Defense ever excelling in taking the ball away. One of of our greatest defensive players of all times, was Darrelle Revis, and for all of his skills in coverage and in shutting down opposing WRs, he was not a ball hawk like Asante Samuel and others. I don't recall Aaron Glenn or James Hasty getting a lot of picks, either. I also don't recall Jets' LBs ripping or punching the ball out of opponent's hands like I've seen LBs and DBs do on other teams.

    My favorite stat-

Aaron Rodgers went 80-10 with the Packers when they allowed fewer than 20 points. The Jets allowed 18.6 PPG last season.

NC .... agree RK was the worst and Winner was right behind him... we have has some real winners (no pun intended...LOL).

    Found this about your BUOB

Zach Wilson's final preseason numbers: 37-for-56 66% 365 yards 1 TD, 0 INT Played 100 snaps, roughly 7 quarters of action. It was a solid summer. Two highlight moments -- long pass to Taylor in the HOF game and long scramble vs TB. Overall, a confidence builder. #Jets There is hope...
