I think it was in Jeter's second full year when some veteran -- I want to say David Cone -- wryly remarked that "It was a good time to be Derek Jeter in New York." Right now is a good time to be Garrett Wilson in New York .
Garrett Wilson w/o Zach Wilson Targets: 11.25 Catches: 6.13 Receiving yards: 81.13 TDs: 0.5 17-game pace 191.25 targets (WR1) 104.21 catches (WR6) 1,379.21 receiving yards (WR6) 8.5 TDs (WR8) S U P E R S T A R
I placed nice wager on him to lead the league in receiving touchdowns. It would be nice on multiple levels to hit that
He is truly an outstanding #1 receiver. Hopefully he stays healthy and expands on a great rookie season. I’m excited to see his progression.
Garrett Wilson is the Jets' answer to Tyreek Hill, minus the domestic violence and douchebaggery. The Jets have never had a player as fast as this guy, and they have had some fast players.
The very first play of the game and the TD should be an indication that GW is going to go over 100 catches. In both cases ARs pre snap recognition set up the passes.
the TD pass was called in as a run, rodgers audibled out when he seen cover 0 blitz and knew where he was going before the snap. it was gonna be either a TD or incomplete. He threw it perfect and wilson made the tough catch in good coverage
I know. That's why I said "ARs pre snap recognition" lol. I think the first play of the game was a run also. He looked over. Saw the cb playing 8 yards off. Changed the play. Quick easy 12 yards. Edit: I rewatched the first play. It absolutely was a run call. It's gonna be real fun to watch and dissect as the year unfolds.
Orlovsky broke down the two plays on Get Up this morning (there's video on Twitter). It's not just about recognition but also perfect execution. The first throw to Wilson was right on his outside shoulder and super quick, allowing GW to square up 1v1 on the CB who was still 6 yards away.
One day, perhaps Zach makes that play after recognizing what was in front of him. Like everything else in life, experience and time are the two best teachers if one is trying to learn what to do and when to do it.
