Let this sink in. The defending super bowl Champs are going to sign Carson Wentz to be their number 2. Are people really serious that Wilson is better?

Zach has led the team on a number of scoring drives this season, so it's not accurate to say that he hasn't been able to to that. Last night vs the Giants, either Jenkins ran the wrong route or Zach just plain badly missed him like Rodgers had badly missed an open receiver earlier. It happens. As you said, Zach was victimized by two drops. Gipson's was especially egregious because with his speed, he might have scored or gotten us a lot closer to the Red Zone and sustained the drive. The OL who were playing at that dime couldn't block for crap on the runs. The RBs were getting stuffed at or behind the LOS. So it wasn't a matter of his inability to lead them on a TD drive last night it was that the other players on the field with him played like crap on his drives. When Boyle came in, all of a sudden Gipson found his hands, and Erickson played, and played at a very high level. Zach didn't have that benefit.

I never said he was coasting... he never faced such adversity, & didn't get any help from management/coaches, and vaporized. From that, & his changed environment, he seems to be ripening, & more serious, thoughtful. It's like he's in football 101, whereas til now, so much of his "game" was just leaning on his talent.
If ya wanna call that coasting, sure, but I mean it more as immaturity.
Rogers, Hackett et al, will be focused on the games. Sure they'll help when they can, but the rest is all on him.
He won't be getting the same attention, now that real football's about to kick-off.
He'll hopefully prepare himself to play, if needed, but otherwise it's up to him to absorb, & make sense of what he's observing... then putting it into action in practice.
(And garbage-time, when the Jets are up, & winding down the clock...)

I didn't take it as if you meant that he was "coasting," just that his immaturity and all the excitement and glamor distracted him somewhat.

listen to yourself… Gipson forgot how to play football until Boyle came in. Yah ok that makes sense

Erickson is a practice squad player, he scored because the QB got him the ball, let’s give some credit to Boyle

To add to your point, the throw deep down to Hardman, was a thing of beauty. Absolutely perfectly placed. Too bad he could not hold on to it. Personally, I think Wilson looks so much better this year.

Number of scoring drives this season. 1. No touchdowns in preseason. 3 total points. Sure he has improved. Sure we are in good hands if Roger's goes down

    And I understand you too.
We're just starting the clock at different points.
I've pushed 'reset,' and am starting from scratch.
He was set up for failure & he did.
So I started his clock, when he came out of HIS darkness retreat (the off-season), & entered ARHackett grammar school...

There's no amount of facts that can alter the perception these guys have--"led the team on a number of scoring drives" is an absolute delusion but it doesn't matter.

I'm just amazed at the difference in game planning when Zach is on the field and when Boyle is on the field. Seems Hackett is a lot more aggressive with Boyle than Zach. I could be wrong but it sure looks that way.

I think that's because Boyle knows the system so well, and he's not having to be re-trained like Zach is. They have a plan with Zach just like they had with Becton.

Yeah…I’m not buying that…I’d have to check but I think he led what, one TD drive all preseason? Maybe 2? Remember, he’s playing against backups. He’s going into his third year. Drafted 2nd overall.

No matter what spin you want to put on it, it’s not good. If he were truly worthy of that draft pedigree he would be doing MUCH better.

When Boyle came in the team moved better. The Giants #3 guy looked better, despite throwing a pick 6.

    It is what it is.

Like I said in my post, I’ll give him credit for at least hitting most of the layup throws and not throwing stupid picks…those are 2 nice improvements from the shit we’ve seen for two years from him. But again…it’s coming against backups, and he’s still not putting TDs on the board. It’s just a painful offense to watch.

I hope he can be salvaged, I really do…but yesterday’s game was very much like what I see in someone like Kirk Cousins…nice stats but when it comes crunch time, he doesn’t win. That’s Zach this preseason…he’s improved his completion rate because Hackett is calling a lot of short layups for him (which is good for a rookie QB, which it seems like they are treating him like), but he’s not putting up points. Blame the OL. Blame the receivers, Blame the OC playcalling. Whatever … it’s the same story. We keep having to make excuses for him not showing better.

Again, I’m happy to give him credit for his baby steps improvement, but honestly, he should be better by now. It’s year 3.

Just watched the game. Zach played well. Some of you really hate Zach.

He had to work on a bunch of things this off season and we saw a lot of growth.

Is there people really wanting Carson Wentz? They must have not watched football the last three years

I guess since you think Z played well you must think Boyle played like Johnny Unitas, right?

Did you think it was well that he can't hit a slant pattern or a seam route against number 2's and 3's?

Really, please explain because I want to learn.

Great analysis, you must have put a lot of thought into this one. Zach is going to be number 2 no matter how much bad analysis and ignorant things you post.

Was watching the game with a buddy of mine who is a Giants fan who kept saying how zach looks way better and he's been fine. The guy was the 2nd overall pick going against guys who weren't even drafted or are barely going to make the team. He should be the best player on the field considering he was the 2nd pick in the draft. Yes, he's playing with roster bubble players too, but make them better. It's pretty crazy that he just "fits in" with the crap we watch in the 2H.

It depends what they are working on and what they want Zach to do. Would you have felt better if Gibson and hardman caught those passes? The ball that was thrown "Behind" was on Gibson, he needed to settle in the zone (he will learn young receiver). The throw was perfect. We know Zach can run around and make plays. What he is working on is staying in the pocket throwing the ball on-time and going through his progression.

The standard he is held to is just too high at this point in his career. All the reasons the haters have stated have some truth which is why AR is here. The kid got a raw deal in my opinion, now let's see if he can turn around his career. My guess he will get a couple of starts this season and hopefully he plays well. If not he has the entire season to learn and progress.
