I don’t think it’s really been talked about enough this off-season, but Jermaine Johnson is in the midst of a monster camp and preseason. He looks possessed. It means very little until it’s proven in the regular season but man does it look encouraging.

I was hyper critical of the pick because I didn’t think the trade up was appropriate but I think I’m going to be wrong on this one. He’s long, fast and physical which is a winning combination for a guy with a great first step.

If you didn't start this thread I was going to bump "Welcome to Jets Jermaine Johnson" thread. He is playing lights out. If Will McDonald pans out as well, we will have such a fun Defensive Line with Quinnen Williams right there as well. I am loving Jets D this offseason. Hope we stay injury free so we can get out of the tough first 6 games with a 3-3 record at worst.

If the Jets win a Superbowl in the next few years the 2022 draft might turn out as mythical.

J.D and his staff deserve a lot of credit for targeting this young man and trading to get him. He has the potential to be a special player!

Did not want him at all at 4 or 10. Absolutely loved moving back into the first to grab him. Every red flag I thought he had has been shot down. Beat writers have been drooling all over him throughout camp and it’s warranted. He has the size and speed to be an elite every down player. He just won’t play every down here.

Big time that he developed his pass rushing moves because he was already a solid run defender off the edge. Can’t wait to see more with the full DL around him.

I sure hope not. He can play the run extremely well. Hes a legit 3 down guy.

Who JJ? He deserves to play the bulk at the EDGE spot since you not gonna lose much pass rushing and you get someone who can defend against the run. Of course Will and Huff gonna be in their “NASCAR” package but JJ has shown he should at least be on the field as much as he can.

Sorry guys. I didn't mean to say that. I forgot to add a question mark to Broadwy Aaron's comment about him not being a 3 down guy here at Jets.

I think he should play as much as possible. My bad. :)

gotcha. I meant he won’t play every down because that’s not how Saleh rolls.

The biggest thing for JJ and getting pressure has been standing up. Almost all of his pressures are from that position rather than his hand in the dirt.

Spot on. He s amazing.However. He needs to keep a level head though. The roughing penalty today while the guy was 6 yards out of bounce absolutely can not happen during the season. He has done it twice In preseason.

2022 will end up being the best Jets ever.
While 2000 is better because of numbers and you forgot Coles in the third, 2006 had just as big an impact on the team with Brick and Mangold.

It's hard to force a nickname.
