Sorry. I only visit the site from my phone and I use Tapatalk which resizes everything to fit. I didn't realize it was huge. My bad.
Saleh made it official at his presser today. Duane Brown is off the PUP and will return to practice today.
I very much doubt it. I don't see how anybody, regardless of how mentally tough they are, goes from not participating in practice at all to suddenly starting in a couple days and being football ready. It just doesn't make sense. Playing through pain isn't the same as returning to football shape. At this point I'm HOPING he's ready for week 1. I'm assuming his duties will be light today.
if there's a saving grace its that Duane Brown is a physical specimen. Unlike a Becton or something he's never had troubles with being in shape
I agree with everything you said. Imagine Becton (healthy) on the left and Jones on the right. I think Becton scared them away from taking Jones. I personally think that we will look back and see that Jones should have been the pick
I haven't heard anything about Warren in weeks. Shit, I don't think he has played in any of the pre-season games
Fair but that’s not really a fair analysis of the data. One thing to think about that skews the data is that Brady has 7 of those. But also - Elway was drafted in 1983 in the first round and has two of those. Aikman has 3, Eli has 2, Roethlisberger has 2, Mahomes has 2. That’s 9 first round SB victories in that time frame but it’s only 4/8 of those players. Phil Simms should theoretically have one of those but he got hurt in 1990. 3 of those seasons were won pretty much solely by the defense (2000 Ravens, 2002 Buccaneers, 1986 Bears). So I mean yeah, it’s hard to draft QB’s and your statement is technically correct but it doesn’t really tell the whole story.
That is correct. It is also correct that players he brought in who are no longer here will have nothing to do with winning or losing and players he never hired never did. As a side note, do you remember how many "loyal" Jets fans wanted to dump him after one year? Also Quinnen Williams being the "single best player on the team" is arguable enough to have its own thread.
We've got like $20 mil in cap space. This is where it needs to go. Sent from my SM-S906U using Tapatalk
Here's the point of my post - I'll repeat it for you: Complaining about what MacCagnan did or did not do is a waste of time and pixels. The next success Douglas has with a Jets quarterback will be his first. Do you take issue with that?
That was the point of the post..... That it is incredibly hard to draft a championship QB in the first round. There are plenty of "good" ones. But let's be real. We judge them on trophies. I mean remember when Andrew Luck was going to come into to the league and just win a hundred super bowls? Mike Vick? Cam Newton? Those guys were going to "revolutionize" the position. Shit, you're old enough to remember Jeff George right? I'm not defending any recent jets GM. They have been dog shit. My point has always been the same; it's insanely hard to find the franchise QB so I don't judge GMs on that. In fact, I'd rather a GM who keeps swinging for the fences looking for one.
It is getting easier though than it was in the 90s, early 2000s from your examples. These days every NCAA athlete has every game and practice filmed and available for scouts. They are also paid "professionals" now with NIL deals. The highest level is basically minor league NFL. General Managers need to stop trying to outsmart themselves by drafting small school projects or over-scrutinizing the marquee prospects, these days if they are good at the highest levels in college, chances are they will be good in the pros. Jalen Hurts, Tua, Burrow, Lawrence and Herbert are examples of guys who played well at the highest levels in modern day college football. Those guys are all good enough to win championships btw
Some don't get Saleh's repeated faith in Becton, yr after yr, including this year. But think for a minute who Saleh works for......Becton was Joe Douglas' first ever draft pick. And Saleh will do everything in his power to have Becton succeed. JoeD is probably BEGGING Saleh to make it work out with Big Becton, and Saleh is doing everything he can to make his boss happy.
Aaron Wilson on X: "#Eagles terminated Fred Johnson's contract" / X (twitter.com) Eagles release OT Fred Johnson. The Eagles have one of the best OL's in the league. This is something JD should look into.
