Might still be a family/life matter. Either way, the result was Corey's retirement which probably isn't a bad thing considering the Jets wanted to get younger anyway. Opens a roster spot for Brownlee or even Gipson.
I posted this in the other CD thread too but with him retiring, I believe that clears up roughly 10.5M in cap space for this season. Mike Evans anyone???
And this isn't a 34-y/o rotation guy stepping away from a middling team with a middling QB. Consider the opportunity CD is walking away from this season. Really makes me think something serious is going on behind the scenes.
We still have next years 2nd, assuming Rodges hits the marker and that second becomes a first which would go to Green Bay
Wow. Dude waits until 2 weeks before the season to quit on his team. Pretty fucked up. Guy had a chance to win a title and decided he couldn't even finish out his contract. What a cuck. Welp, time to trade for Davante Adams.
Good for Corey Davis going out on his terms. Football is not a game you play if you aren’t 100% committed to it. One wrong move severely alters the rest of your life. Cimini tweeted that Davis was talking to teammates about this back in the spring so I don’t think anyone is really that surprised. Timing is terrible but things are bigger than football.
Jets can't do that. Both the 1st & 2d are untradeable because they're both contingent. I'm guessing this is a serious family situation of some kind for Davis. Hard to explain otherwise why someone would turn down $10.5 M. Not to mention playing with Rodgers.
“For some time now I’ve been contemplating stepping away from the sport of football. This decision has not been easy. Although I am a deep person, I am a man of few words. I’ve been searching my heart for what to do and I feel that stepping away from the game is the best path for me at this time. I have more blessings than I could have ever imagined — I have an amazing family, a beautiful wife and two healthy children that I look forward to spending more time with. “I am truly grateful for all the opportunities I have had and will continue to have on my journey. Thank you to my family and friends and the Jets organization for supporting me through this process.”
Not to mention Saleh saying his heart goes out to him and his family. This really feels like something is wrong
Oh man how am I going to sleep tonight? Now we gotta find a new WR to drop 3 passes a game, and get 3 holding calls a game. This is terrible. Good riddance. Sent from my IPhone 43 using Tapatalk V.86
