I would trust AVT to start at left tackle more than any player on our roster. A healthy Duane Brown would be the only reason not to play him there. While I think getting a long term starting offensive tackle should be a high priority in the next offseason AVT's ability to fill in at guard this year means solving the problem for now without using draft picks or cap space that we do not have.
I do worry in silence about the OL. I want this team to start out strong. If we take a breath, look at the current situation and hypothetically assume Brown is not starting the season, the big question for me is this. Are there any, any opportunities at all to either trade for or pay big bucks to really bolster the T position, or we are pretty much stuck with the baseline plan. I struggle seeing anything out there that could significantly i prove the position, am I missing something?
AVT's best position is LG imo, and I hope they move him back there next year after parting with the Tomlinson contract. For this year, we have to do whatever we can, and i think AVT to RT is best for the team. I agree with you that we have to hope between Becton and Brown, one of them can man the LT. If they both happen to look healthy and spry, try Becton at RT, and move AVT back to RG. But that's a big if at the moment, so have to prepare. Both Brown and Becton are wildcards, and we need them.
I don't think anyone will ever convince me that Joe wasn't planning to draft Broderick Jones and Tippmann 1 and 2 as a callback to when they drafted Nick and Brick in '06. Similar players, too. Of course Belichick fucked us over. Will McDonald is a pretty nice consolation prize though I think.
And you ate it up. The guy guessed who was fucking him over as it happened. Whoopty fuckin doo. He got fucked over.
So they sat down after it happened and said, Hey Joe, we need to reenact this pick b/c it looks really bad that Bill fucked us for Jones. Lets do this to save face. Holy fucking shit. Talk about tinfoil hat conspiracy. Ya'll have been beaten down by Bill way to many times if you believe that shit. Jesus christ.
All he did in the clip we are given was predict the Steelers were gonna trade up over the Jets. It is as much of a stretch to say he didn't want Broderick Jones based on that as it is to what you are mocking. At that point he had already given up the 13th pick in the draft and made the Jets vulnerable to this situation -- I dont think they re-filmed anything, they probably left out all the concerned voices and conversations in the lead up to the draft how the trade might cost the Jets a chance at Broderick Jones though. if there's anything we can feel warm and fuzzy about, its that Jones hasn't looked great in the preseason yet. Anton Harrison is another story
If he wanted Jones he would have gone up and got him -- especially considering he knew someone was going to jump them. I don't want to hear about how Bill wouldn't have made a trade b/c it's the Jets. They literally made a trade later in the same draft. It's clear as day Douglas didn't want Jones.
