How confident are you that the offensive line, as currently constructed, can protect Rodgers?

That offensive lineman the Steelers took wouldn't even start for us. Kudos for trying

I'm becoming less baffled by the day. He looks like he's going to eat offensive tackles for breakfast.

I agree, Von is totally salivating after spending the last 10 months on IR. A good team would probably put him on a pitch count for his first action back but if Buffalo is willing to risk re-injury, so am I.

PS there’s literally video of JD ranking WMD over Jones as our pick approached, why are you still pushing that bullshit narrative?

Since this is basically about the O-Line and I'm done complaining I'll imdulge your optimism. The Jets may have the best secondary in football and our D-Line is gonna be scary good. The Jets haven't had deeper talent at multiple positions since fat Rex Ryan . . . but Fffff, the O-Line is giving me the shits from anxiety so here I am back on topic. The talent level from three years ago, no comparison, but that OL is beyond worrisome. I know, no kidding. o_O

I don't know, it's always seemed somewhat lop-sided on the D side of the ball, but then again the D had plenty of years that were total dogshit when I was growing up so whatever. I'm excited about the D for sure, though. Let's hope the Jets can score just enough so we don't have to rely on or be subjected to some peg leg jackass to be Sir Shortshanks more than is comfortable. It'll kill me.

    Zack Rosenblatt
OL coach Keith Carter met with the media today. Some highlights... On the message to Mekhi Becton: "At the end of the day, we’re encouraging Mekhi — it’s like hey man, we don’t want to rush you. We want you to feel good. We’re on your side. When you're ready to cut this thing loose, we’re ready for you to go earn a job … we’re not telling him the job is his but we are definitely encouraging him like: when you’re ready to put the pedal to the metal, go compete." On the struggle of the O-Line building chemistry with so much shuffling: "I think there’s something to that but at the end of the day we want guys to be able to play multiple positions. How this league is, the last day you were injury free is the last day before you played football. So it’s always making sure we have guys that can play multiple spots. We’re in that process of competing and figuring out who those best five are." On Alijah Vera-Tucker's versatility: "The ability to do that is gold. AVT is one of the best I’ve seen to be able to do that … it gives us flexibility and we know in a pinch we can rely on him to help us ... there’s always great Swiss Army knives but the level he’s able to do it is unique." On Max Mitchell: "I absolutely love Max. He is tough and his effort is through the roof and we’re working on consistency. I think he’s done a really nice job. He’s not there yet and we’ve got to continue to be consistent and play well on a consistent basis. That’s been our main goal at this point."

Don't have a draft book in front of me, but I likely would have taken someone who played offensive line, (or perhaps middle linebacker, given Moseley's age). Or made a trade to move down and later fortify OL.
Offensive line IS THE MAJOR concern right now (ask Saleh), and the jets are made to win NOW!
I thought I read that in the joint practice with TB, Rodgers would have been sacked in 6 of his 10 dropbacks!

Not saying Douglas hasn't done a good job, but what good does it do to have :

5 quality running backs (which we have)
6 quality edge rushers (which we have)
5 quality tight ends (which we have)

with Aaron Rodgers on his back??

Curious why they drafted an edge rusher at #1 when edge was their deepest position-- McDonald, Huff, JFM, Clemons, Lawson, and JJ ALL deserve snaps. JJ is tearing up training camp, but how much will he even play with that logjam at edge???
I hope McDonald DOES become a generational talent, as you say, but it sure won't be this year, barring injury. He'll be lucky to get 10-15 snaps per game.
By the time McDonald DOES become a generational talent Rodgers will likely be gone and JD will go back to Zach Wilson. :D
Drafting for the long term is fine normally, but the jets have a tight window with their QB, and IMO McDonald was a luxury pick. If we don't agree, that's fine.

Woof, that OL situation looks bad now. Still hoping that JD can move one/more of our RB, TE, and/or edge rushers for OL help, but we all know that is difficult to trade player(s) for-player(s)

I think I am more worried about jets OL now than you are, but I appreciate your point on McDonald likely being a future star. Feel free to respond, you can have the last word, and we are all jets fans. :D

A lot of words when “I can’t name anyone” would have worked just as well.

PS. Are you really asking what use RBs and TEs have in helping protect a QB? Smfh

Lawson and Huff are most likely gone next year. Clemons isn't really an edge rusher, he may finish with 2 sacks. Saleh has shown throughout his career he can turn a late round pick into something good at LB. Look at his tenure with SF and look how improved Quincy Williams has been since he got here. I didn't want McDonald either, but there has been nothing but great reviews and film on the kid since he's been here. That is absolutely not something to be annoyed at right now.

Possibly, or it's possible that they truly believe they'll be fine and no one internally is panicking.

Hard for anyone on the outside to say definitively one way or the other though.

Appreciate your insight. And let's hope this IS the year that the jets finally break their playoff drought. I think the roster is solid everywhere save ILB depth and of course OL. They will go as far as their OL takes them.

They will go as far as Aaron Rodgers takes them. He by far the most important piece to the puzzle. It's not like every playoff team has a superior OL. But almost all have a superior QB.

I understand your trepidation but there is time to get it sorted. If they can get Becton to the point where is is the starting RT then we should be fine.

I'd bring him in for a visit at this point.

As you've said, worst case he's some solid depth if something happens to DB or Mekhi.

Didn't he play guard for Dallas the last time he played?
