Hughes: Breece Hall just broke off a run. Not sure anything could take smile off Robert Saleh’s face after that one. Could see it from 50 yards away. #Jets An 8-play drive for the #Jets starting offense ends with a 10-yard touchdown from Aaron Rodgers to Randall Cobb. Perfectly-placed pass in tight coverage (Bryce Hall). Rodgers rolled right, then fired it to Cobb cutting left. Really pretty. Rosenblatt: Latest drive from Aaron Rodgers: - Missed Garrett Wilson. Interception. - Missed Wilson again. - Beautiful completion to Randall Cobb on a deep corner route. - Quick completion to Allen Lazard - Slant to Breece Hall. Big gain. - Incomplete to the flat - Touchdown to Randall Cobb, though he might’ve been sacked by Bryce Huff #Jets @NYJets_Media: Aaron Rodgers rolls to his right and finds Randall Cobb for the TD Looked like he would’ve been sacked on the play and kept playing Still shows off the ability of Rodgers to make something out of nothing. #Jets Cimini: After the pick, Rodgers gets another chance and drives the length of the field (8 plays for a TD). Two completions to his old buddy, Cobb, including a TD. Cobb will be a factor this year. Count on it. #jets
Faria: Breece Hall reception #Jets using him all over again. No pads today obviously matters but the OL certainly looks lightyears better today. Rodgers has had plenty of time to make throws #Jets Rodgers to Cobb for a TD - good way for the first team offense to end that session. #Jets Zaire Barnes with a pass deflection on the third team. He’s picked it up late. #Jets 2-minute session for the third team offense is starting well. Becton at RT while Boyle finds Charles open for a big gain. #Jets
@NYJets_Media: Mekhi Becton is looking great at RT in pass protection so far This man is a WALL #Jets Faria: Pita Taumoepenu might’ve beaten Becton there for a “sack.” XFL star has been pretty good in spurts so far. Good p-squad candidate. #Jets
Costello: I think today’s storyline after no sacks in team periods is: time to worry about the Jets D line?
Faria: First 11v11 sessions over: - Much improved day from OL - Rodgers-Wilson connection was a tad off today. Nothing overly major though. - Breece Hall is back and everywhere. - Good stuff from Jordan Whitehead. #Jets That’s actually the end of practice. Quick day but encouraging turn for the #Jets offense
Hughes: I had #Jets QB Aaron Rodgers 5 of 9 with a TD & INT today. Important: No obvious sacks. This was pad-less, too, which usually gives DL an advantage. #NYJ’s three drives (starters) resulted in punt, INT, TD.
I agree with most of this statement. What I question is whether Mitchell should be the first guy off the bench if one of the tackles is injured. I have to admit that I haven't watched Turner closely in the two televised games, but I have tried to keep an eye on Mitchell (for whom I had high hopes). It was obvious that Mitchell in the two games was thoroughly stinking it up in an embarrassing way. Conversely, I've seen Turner take some decent snaps but also get beat a few times. Mitchell might have some upside in the future, but for whatever reason he looks totally unprepared to put in major snaps as an NFL tackle, to my untrained eye. Of course, you have seen both in person in training camp, so I value your opinion over my own observations. All I've got to say is that if Turner is actually worse than Mitchell at this point then Turner doesn't belong on an NFL roster.
Breece is not only a dangerous runner but he's also a great pass catching back. Having him back is huge!
I just want to be clear to everyone, I have not been present at any Jets practices for TC (an unfortunate aspect of living in Kentucky while being a Jets fan). I merely post tweets from the beat and fans who are present for those practices on this message board so that it's all in one place for everyone. I'm just giving my opinion on Turner/Mitchell based off of what I've seen in the PS games and what I've read from the beat in tweets/articles/etc. At the end of the day, the better player should be the swing OT this season, but IMO I would give Mitchell the first crack at that due to him being a 2nd year player vs Turner who's going into his 10th year in the league.
Hard to tell without pads on, obviously, but I think he makes Amos miss there no matter what. That knee is looking pretty, pretty, pretty good.
