Agreed on Becton. I was hoping he would play RT. It may not be an option especially if he mentally and physically dealing with confidence with that knee. I think the only other option at RT is Mitchell, and he’s been struggling. There’s also the issue of depth, as Turner useless and Warren doesn’t seem ready. Maybe Brown? The more I think about it, AVT has got to go to RT. He handled that well last year, and we need it. Between Tippman and Schweitzer I think we can make up the Guard spot even if not ideal.
From an optics standpoint, could you imagine being QB, and seeing a Tippman and a Turner manning your right side? We gotta work on these names.
For sure, I would much rather have D'brickwall, excuse me, D'brickashaw in front of me than Turnstile/Turner and the Tip-man
feels like a move will be made by Joe Douglas soon even if it's a mid-tier signing. This situation is boiling up. I think Duane Brown returning will be the domino (whenever/if that happens). I don't think we have the ability to make a splash move. We know with certainty that Duane Brown will be LT and Laken will be LG. Tippmann/McGovern at C. Could see McGovern moving to RG if we move AVT to RT. Becton will have to make a choice coming up (assuming he stays healthy) about being willing to play RT. For the sake of his career, he should be willing and I believe he has already changed tunes on that publicly. I think his stint as 2nd team LT so far has just been rehabbing his knee for the RT position.
I wonder at what point will they just move AVT to RT and flirt with West, CMG, or maybe even Risner (if they bring him in) at RG? I guess it can't really happen until AVT is healthy from that ankle.
I wonder if there is any truth to this. Just a rumor and I would prefer to see a more credible source reporting it. But here you go... Jets Have Reportedly Discussed Potential Trade For Packers LT David Bakhtiari - NFLTradeRumors.co
If Rodgers gets injured, nothing else matters. Forget about sack exchange 2.0 dreams and fix the O line.
So the latest rumor is that the Jets are looking into the availability of David Bakhtiari. Considering that his salary cap number for this year is $38M and that his dead money if traded would be close to $17M, it seems likely that the Packers would want to Jets to take over a significant portion of that compensation. Considering also that Bakhtiari has played 24 games over the last 4 years (with 2 of those 4 season completely wiped out by injuries) and considering that he is strictly a left tackle (where the Jets already have Becton and Brown vying for a spot while RT languishes in the hands of the likes of Mitchell), it looks like the Jets would be taking on a big risk for a broken-down veteran. On the other hand, if Rogers is pushing for this trade, the Jets have to kick the tires.
Rich Cimini on X: "By my count, Rodgers has been sacked six times in the last 10 dropbacks. His completions came on quick throws. The Bucs’ front is really good or … #Jets" / X (twitter.com)
https://nypost.com/2023/08/16/hard-knocks-episode-2-quinnen-williams-leads-jets-defense/ “You can have a Hall of Fame quarterback,” Saleh was seen telling the Jets in a meeting. “You can have two $10 million-plus receivers. You can have a reigning offensive rookie of the year. You can have all kinds of skill in the running back room. None of it f–king matters until the big boys up front change who the f–k we are.” Yeah, I'm starting to get a really bad feeling about this.
Cimini: Rodgers downplays the OL woes today, saying they handled themselves better up front than last wk vs Carolina. He notes all the shuffling on the OL, saying there will be a time (soon) where they have to start building continuity. #jets Rodgers says his concern level with the OL is “pretty low.” #Jets
